Question about Dell Computers & Internet

1 Answer

DELL Inspiron 530, green LED in the back under power cord glows solid, but the CPU will not power up, no fan, no beeps, no nothing. If I press the power button it glows amber briefly, and if I hold the power button down, it'll blink, but does nothing else. I reseated the power cord, I tried different outlets, and it's like the CPU has simply died. Need HELP asap, the semester just started and I cannot afford to be without a computer. Thank you!

This is a hardware related problem. The issues you described indicates that your power supply has gone bad. You will need to replace the unit.

If possible please rate this solution.

When i turn on my Dell Inspiron 2400 Desktop Computer why won`t it start.

Is the computer plugged in to a known good power source with a known good power cord? Also, make sure the power is fully seated on both ends. When you press the power button are you getting any indicator lights? The power button itself has an LED that will be either solid green, blinking green, solid amber, blinking amber, or off. Do you hear any beeps?

D*mn Dells, Windows Updates! I have a Dell Inspiron 540 and received the same problem after putting it on sleep mode, of course I did a Windows Update earlier tonight. so this is not the first problem I've had after the constant updates from MS.

"Beep Beep....beep beep," with amber colored power light. Happened when I immediately booted the PC, no fans, no messages...nothing. Anyway, I did solve the issue - for now and after a few tries. I simply removed the power cord from the back of the computer. Keep in mind there is a green light that will remain on for about 10-15 seconds(Reason why it took a few tries is because this in not like my ancient Vaio..you'd have to wait 2,3 seconds before plugging it back in - I didn't know that when I pulled the cord without looking at the back.) After the green light went off, I plugged it back in, pressed Power and it booted...no beeps.

I did get a DOS screen, do not choose "Resume Windows" - if prompted...the computer simply shut down when i chose that. Choose the second option. See if this works, hope it does for many of you. It's one "solution" that worked for me.
I'm HOPING this is a slight hiccup, but knowing Windows..well, who knows what will happen.

Dell inspiron 530s.when powered up cpu.fan runs very fast, computer gives 1 beep then powers off.It sometimes restarts itself only for the same thing to occur.

Good Morning--The 1 beep with the Dell Inspiron 530 is due to a bios check sum failure and or possible motherboard failure. The best resolution is to contact Dell and to see what they say. If you have any other questions--feel free to contact us at info@custompcrepair.com

Computer won't start, solid amber light, no fans, no keyboard, nothing. There is power to monitor and modem. What's wrong and how can I fix it?

That my Friend is the Yellow Light of Death, anyway turn on Your PC, as it starts You will here some beeps especially on a Dells. Count the beeps , there will be a slight pause so it will beep once then pause then beep again. Count the beeps and that will be Your code. Go to Dell Support site and look up code. Most of the time a Yellow amber light means that there is trouble with Your Motherboard but thats not to say its the Motherboard itself, during a power outage with no surge protected, it could have possibly burned out Your RAM, Processor, Heat fan, even the power supply itself. So look up the code and at least You'll have a better chance of finding the solution, Good Luck

I am trying to power up my Dell Inspirion 530 and it just makes a beeping noise continuously. How do I fix this?

It could be many things honestly. A couple possibilities could be; you put in too much RAM/not the correction offset of RAM; CPU issues; System fan issues (though some computers will let you run it anyways pressing F2); Power supply issues; or something errored on the motherboard. Those are just a few off the top of my head. If you recently installed RAM, try putting things back the way they were previously and look online for your max RAM support. If not, look on the back of your power supply and you should see a brightly lit green LED. If it is dim, pulsing, or off...you will need a new powersupply. If light is bright and on, try opening your case and making sure all of the cables from the power supply are firmly in place on your motherboard. If after all of that and your computer is still having issues, you might need to replace your Motherboard/CPU, or both. Hope this helps. :D

Green LED on Dell Inspiron Desktop 530 - all OK?

Yes, on most desk top the green light in the back tells you that you have power to the cpu. Even though the unit is off it is telling you that the current supply is still there. This is a good feature if you move your unit as soon as you plug it in you know if the outlet is on or not.
