Remove the 2 Phillips head screws that are in the left and right end caps of the console, in the front corners. remove nothing from the rear of the cabinet!! after removing those 2 Phillips head screws slide the bottom of the console forward about 1/2 inch the lift up and it will pivot right up and over on the hinges that are attached in the upper corners of the console..
good luck and have fun.

The washer only fills to one small level with water the adjustments don't seem to matter

you have to remove the console and check the water level switch at the wire connector. make sure is not burn out and that the plastic hose is not pinch, bent. removed and blow in it. if you feel any resistance take the cabinet out and inspect. also your water level switch may be bad.

good luck to you.

I have a top load kitchen aid washer that works but when it agitates it is not straight ..it is on an angle and it is a direct drive (do I go thru bottom or top) and what is the problem???

Remove the 2 screws from corner of the control console and lift the console to the rear. Remove the 2 clips holding the cabinet to the rear panel. Unplug the lid switch wire. Remove the cabinet. Look for a loose or broken spring. There will be 3 large springs around the base. One small spring goes from the tub to the bottom rear panel(probably the one broken).Look for a loose skate plate under the tub. Maybe missing pads.

Replace lid switch

You will need to not only remove the control panel, but you will also need to remove the washer casing from the frame in order to acces the switch. It sounds intimidating, but really isn't that difficult to do. The following link explains how to replace a lid switch:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385199-replacing_lid_switch_whirlpool_top

Your washer is manufactured by Whirpool, so these instructions will apply. Most commonly, the lid switch is located under the washer casing along the right hand side of the lid. If the model number you have this listed under is correct, your switch is under the washer casing near the right lid hinge. The mounting screw(s) and ground connector are under the operator console. For clarification, you can refer to pcappliancerepair.com for some excellent exploded view diagrams to assist you. The lid switch is located under the "Top and Cabinet Parts" heading.

If you have any questions about this repair, or need additional assistance, please let me know.

How do i open top of kitchenaid washer

To open the top of the washer, you must first open the console. Where the bottom of your console meets the top of your washer, you should find a screw on both the right and left hand sides. After removing these screws, pull the bottom of the console to you then rotate it up. Where the back (dull silver) panel meets the top, you should see two brass colored clips. The trick to getting these off, is sticking either a screw driver or pair of needle nose pliersdown where the clip goes into the top. While simultaniously pushing down, push the top of the tool towards the rear of the machine. Once you have the clips off, the front, sides and top will all come off as one assembly(your cabinet). Slowly start to pull the cabinet towards you grasping it at the top. You will have a couple of the small black hoses at the top still connected. Since it is difficult to describe, as you are pulling the top of the cabinet towards you, look for the hoses that start to get tight. A pair of pliers or channel locks will squeeze the clamps enough to allow you to get the hoses off. After you have these disconnected, slide the cabinet slightly forwar and you'll be able to lift it out of the way. A common source of leakage on these is one of the black hoses that goes down to the tub. If it pops off, you will get water on the floor nearly every cycle. Check your dispensers to make sure they are not plugged and causeing an overflow leak. he remaining clprits are your pump (white plastic on the bottom center, the hoses going to it and possibly the tub itself. Good luck and message me back if you need anything else.
