Question about SkyScan 86742 Digital Atomic Wall Clock

1 Answer

Everything but the outside temperature is working. We took the batteries out of both units, waited 10 seconds and put in new batteries in the inside clock, and then waited 3 minutes before putting in the outside unit. That was several hours ago and still not reading.Thank you for your help.

I have found a link to Skyscan FAQ's and it has a little bit more time required to reset the system.I am not sure if it applies to all models but I could not find the manual for your particular model. It is a quick easy read and fix.I am not sure why but they recommend Duracell, but basically an alkaline battery is an alkaline battery. There is very little difference in how long an alkaline battery will last but lithium is different and lasts longer than alkaline but still, lithium is lithium and most will last very close in usage time no matter the brand(just for your info). The decision is obviously yours. If this doesn't work, please reply to this post and I will get an auto link.Good luck! Why is indoor display not showing outside temperatures?

If the condition comes and goes, the outside unit may be exposed to extreme temperatures or the batteries may be too weak. If the condition occurred after battery replacement, remove all batteries then reinstall the outside battery and wait for it to "initialize" and begin sending data. ReInstall the inside battery and you should see the outside temperature displayed.

Do you have to change batteries on clock inside house along with outside batteries to get correct outside temperature

My most consistent (best, repeatable) results with this process are to replace both sets of batteries, both in the clock and in the outside temperature sensing unit. Start by removing all batteries out of everything. Now replace the batteries in the outdoor unit, then (within 30 seconds) replace the clock batteries. The temp unit should begin communicating normally within 5 minutes (or less) and yes, you will have to reset the clock,

I have eight atomic clocks, none of them have the outside temperature working, all have new batteries???

If your outside temperature is not showing on your clock, that may mean that the clock and the transmitter have lost their connection. To reconnect them you must first take the batteries out of both of the units for 15 minutes. First put the batteries back into the transmitter, and then the clock. Let them sit side by side inside your home. When both the indoor and outdoor temperatures show on your clock with the same reading, or within two degrees of each other, then you may put your transmitter back outside. Remember to keep the transmitter out of the direct sun in a dry place. Also keep it away from metal, which can affect the readings.

Radio Shack 63-1090 indoor/outdoor temperature unit. Won't give outdoor readings. Temps are cold, -5F but it always worked before. Put in new batteries in the inside and outside units, wiped outdoor sensor...

According to instructions for similar systems, you have to replace batteries in the outdoor unit first, then the indoor unit and wait 10 minutes without pressing any buttons for the indoor unit to begin displaying the outdoor temperature.

I cannot get the outside temperature to show on the inside monitor

Try the usual fix by removing batteries and reinstalling/replacing batteries starting with the outside unit. Wait for as long as 10 minutes for the ouside temperature to be displayed on the indoor unit. If nothing happens after 10 minutes, the outside unit may have failed.

Changed batteries and the outside temperature still does not show

Bring the outside sensor inside. Take the batteries out of the sensor and out of the main unit. Wait 10 minutes. Put the batteries back in the remote sensor. Put the batteries back in the main unit. Do not touch any of the buttons. Wait 10 minutes. If the remote temperature is not showing within 10 minutes, try again. Once the remote temperature is showing, you can set the clock.

Cannot get the outside temp to respond on a WS9047U-IT

Bring the outdoor sensor indoors. Take the batteries out of the sensor and out of the main unit. Wait 10 minutes. Put the batteries back in the outdoor sensor. Put the batteries back in the main unit. DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTONS. Wait 10 minutes or until the outdoor temperature shows. Once the temperature shows you may use the buttons to set the clock, etc. If it does not show after 10 minutes, then try again.

I put new batteries into both units, the indoor unit and outdoor unit, now it is not able to read the outdoor temperature. What needs to be done?

I'm having the same problem and can't find an answer. Seems this also happened with another model we had - planned obsolescence? It was working fine, flashing due to low battery. Now, nothing from outside. Annoying.
