Re: washer only stays on rinse cycle
The first thing to check in a no-spin condition on any washer is the
lid switch. The whole purpose of the lid switch is to stop the tub from
spinning when the lid is opened and this should also cause it not to drain or fill. It’s a safety thing.
A quick check of the lid switch is to slowly raise and
lower the lid a little bit and listen for a faint clicking sound. This
is usually a pretty good indication that the lid switch is working but
it’s not definitive. A better test is to put an ohm meter on it and test the switch. You can access the switch by removing the washer cabinet.
The lid switch will most likely look like one of the two pictures
below. You can click the pictures for a larger view and to order the

Its likely you need a new motor speed control board, its the most commonly replaced board in these washers. On this model its located underneath on the right or left wall. You can't really test this but try putting the washer in to the Spin and Rinse cycle, if it doesn't spin then that is most likely your trouble.I did a quick Google search and found this page for the part:http://www.appliancepartspros.com/frigidaire-control-board-134743500-ap3891780.html
Some SHX46 washers have 4 wash cycle buttons and others have 5. The button on the left side on top of the door is the start/stop button regardless of how many wash cycle buttons you have.
If you have 5 cycle buttons, reading from left to right they will be as follows.
1. Top Rack Only / Sanitize 2. Power Scrub Plus - (Long wash for heavy soil) 3. Regular Wash - (Economy wash for light to medium soil) 4. Delicate Wash - (Shorter wash at a lower temperature for delicate items) 5. Rinse & Hold.
These buttons are also used for cancelling a wash cycle. Hold down buttons 2 and 4 (Power Scrub Plus and Delicate) at the same time to cancel a wash cycle and drain the water out.
If your washer does have 4 buttons, it means you don't have a Top Rack / Sanitize cycle, in which case the button configuration - from left to right - will be:
1. Power Scrub Plus - (Long wash for heavy soil) 2. Regular Wash - (Economy wash for light to medium soil) 3. Delicate Wash - (Shorter wash at a lower temperature for delicate items) 4. Rinse & Hold.
With this button configuration, the cancel cycle buttons are 1 and 3.
I hope this solves your problem. If you need any additional information, please post back.
