Question about Computers & Internet

I have a new Toshiba laptop - Satellite L675-019. When I'm typing the keys stick sometimes and I get double letters or letters missing. I've been a typist for 50 years so I'm pretty sure it's a mechanical problem rather than a user problem. Could you help?

No, noone can fix that, the keyboard is faulty - it happens. Since you just bought it you should return it and have the keyboard replaced.

As i said it's a hardware problem: the keys are set far too tightly in the keyboard frame and the rubber buttons that act like springs aren't strong enough to lift them quickly. You can't fix that, the keyboard must be replaced - and this time make sure that they install one in which the keys are looser.

Some of my keys are printing differently in my Toshiba Satellite A75 S209 Laptop

You need to turn off the Number Lock. Press the ScrLk/NumLk key it is located near the F11 key. When you turn off the number lock the NumLk LED light will also switch off and you will get letters instead of numbers.

Replacing individual keys on some laptops can be a real problem, including finding just the one key you need. On toshiba's if the key has come off it's often because it has broken off, not just popped off. Also because you say the key un-jams when pushing another key it seems there may well be more than just the one key not functioning properly. From what you've described it does sound like you'll need a new keyboard.

I recently got a Toshiba satellite A 105 and the letter M is missing from the keyboard. I can still use the letter it's just difficult and slows down my typing. How/where can I get a replacement letter?

They can usually be found on Ebay or an entire keyboard for that matter. The individual letters may cost from one dollar to a couple. The entire keyboard will run you about 25 dollars. When you place the key onto the key support, try to hook it on the left side then roll your finger across the key pressing down, like getting finger printed....this will attach the key to the other side of the support.

Your windows key (the one with the flag) appears to be blocked. Try pressing them both (or 1, if you only have 1) once, see if the keys work again. If not, try taking the keys off the keyboard (just put somthing under them and pull) and put them bac on. If that doesn't help either, you will have to have your keyboard replaced.

Toshiba Laptop Keyboard problem

My Toshiba Satellite A45 S120 keyboard has a problem, some of the keys are not working. When you type it does noting. Sometimes when you start the computer, it continuously types the letter eeeeeeee. You can hit some keys randomly and this will stop, but if you start a program (eg. ms word) the same thing happens.
