Question about Brother MFC 210C All-In-One InkJet Printer
First, Examine the Ink Sensor Window to see if ink is visible through the clear plastic. Hold up the ink cartridge and look at it, if the middle section has ink in it, then most likely the sensor board is bad. Generic inks tend to cause this problem.
If you don't see ink, then the cartridge you have really is empty.
