Apparently some defective components were used in the construction of the logic board (see photo). On my C6180 there were 3 failed capacitors (the green cylinders - the puffed top indicates failure) and a 4th from the same manufacturer (TEAPO - many unfavorable web references to this manufacturer). I purchased 3x 330uF 16V and 1x 680uF 10v rated to 105 degrees Celsius (total about 60cents). On the logic board, the capacitors I replaced are labeled C613, C614, C660 and C662. If you are not comfortable replacing the parts yourself (or don't have a soldering tool), you will have to find someone who will. The time to repair should be less than 30 min - I did it in 25 min with only a solder pen. This fix stopped my printer from power cycling and also fixed the ink system failures the printer was having. A similar fix may apply to other printers. hp photosmart c6180 all-in-one keeps - 859f1d1.jpg

Having problems finding an easy accessable place for the capacitors which would have both styles (needed: 3 - 330uf 16v 105 degree celcius, and needed: 1 - 680uf 10v 105 degree celcius). Any thoughts? Or can the person with the solution ( a1224imac ) to that problem tell me where he got his? I know he said the Teapo's that were installed weren't a great part to use. How about Panasonic?
    Thanks

    Panasonic parts should be fine.

    I got mine from Mouser.com

That did not post very well... Hopefully this is more readable. Parts from Panasonic should be fine. You will pay more in shipping than the price of the parts. I got mine from Mouser.com. DigiKey.com will also have similar parts (and probably less expensive as I have learned)

    I used 3 of these

Hello a1224imac I saw this post a few days ago 10/1/2010. I had a feeling that something like this was happening since I have been in IT for 17 years. I just remembered all of the strange things that used to happen with the Dell 260 and 270 models a few years back. It seems that cost cutting on critical components like capacitors is something many companies like to do today. I wonder if it is just so they can get us to waste more money on their newer equipment. I am heading to radioshack in the hopes that they have these capacitors. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and expertise to hopefully resolve this problem.

This info has been so helpful along with this group of pictures:http://picasaweb.google.com/109215435720... The pictures show how to get to the logic board. Thank you for helping me fix my printer instead of turning it into a boat anchor!

Model c6180 printer gives improper shutdown error

The printer is not getting enough power. When you get this error message it means the printer is being turned off by unplugging the power cord. In this case it maybe that the printer is not getting enough power due to being in a surge protector or perhaps the power module is no longer holding power correctly.
First step is to disconnect printer from any power strip, surge protector, or extension cords and plug in so directly to the wall. If printer still will not stop looping cycle you may need to contact hp for a new power module.

HP 6150 printer shutting on and off

Open the unit up, you'll probably find a capacitor inside that doesn't have a flat top like mine. Replace that one from your electronics supply store, usually very cheap.

Impropershutdown

Press 6 and # while disconnecting the power cord (wait a little bit) and connecting it again. When the display is turned on again you can release the buttons.

After this reset you need to enter language, location and any wireless settings etc.

Same problem, hp c6150 turns on and shuts down in infinite loop.

In visiting with HP Support Personnel, this issue is most likely caused by a faulty power source. I have the same issue with our C6150 and they recommended that I look at replacing power cable. I am currently trying to find a new power cable.
