I am not really sure why the CB/PA switch would cause the symptoms I described but that is what it turned out to be. I spent a couple of hours trying to trace down the problem and just stumbled onto the problem. The switch was broken internally so I replaced it and every thing is good now. Thanks for the help though.

Led doesnt light on cuel automatic climate control

not sure if it is the same as mine but mine had 2 lights behind temp control setting if one is burned out that might be why it is so dim. also my lights were not led they used regular bulbs so when I replaced them I put in led lights I got off e-bay. if the lights are working you likely have a bad connection somewhere you can try hooking a volt meter up one side to the positive on the battery and the other on the negative on the light if that reads good reverse it hook one end to the negative on the battery and the other to the positive on the light and see if it reads good just make sure there is power to the light socket when you test it. if one side is showing low volts that is likely the bad side and you will half to start checking wires on that side

Charging system failure low voltage

Hi Anonymous, perform the following tests:
1. Fill acid type batteries to proper levels.
2. Charge battery overnight at 1-2 amps you need 12 volts or better after charging.
3. Make sure all connections are clean and tight especially the negative cable at both ends.
4. Hook up volt meter to battery and start engine, if meter falls below 9.5 v replace battery.
5. With engine running at 3600 RPM battery should read 14.3-14.7 volts if not continue tests.
6. Unplug voltage regulator from alternator at crankcase by front of primary cover.
7. To test voltage regulator go to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8EjV0IjW9Q
8. With ohm meter, one lead grounded, touch alternator pin meter should read infinity, if not replace stator.
9. With ohm meter, both leads touching alternator pins meter should read 0.1 to 0.2 ohms on 1989 and later models. 0.2 to 0.4 ohms 1988 and earlier models, if not replace stator.
10. With volt meter set on AC scale, both leads touching alternator pins meter should read
16 to 20 volts AC for every 1000 RPM'S 1989 and later and 19 to 26 volts AC for every 1000 RPMS. If not replace rotor. Good luck

Battery not charging

Start the car then check the voltage coming out of the alternator with a voltage meter or a DMM. It should be 13.5 - 14.7 volts if its not replace the alternator.

Ignition light staying on at idle put a volt meter on battery with motor going only 11 volts (is this a sfuffed alternator) ?

If you rev the engine with the voltmeter attached to the battery the voltage should rise to over 12 volts if the alternator is working.

2547 channel led is dim

This is a common problem with a lot of Galaxy, Cobra and similar radios. It usually occurs from one of two things the radio has been operated on a higher voltage than it was designed for ( Called Volting) and has damaged the LEDS or it can occur from poor connections to the display board either the 8 Volt line or the Grounds check for the proper voltage at the display. Note if you ground your meter somewhere besides the display ground you may get a correct voltage reading but still not have the correct voltage reaching the display so be sure to ground your meter at the display and read the voltage there as well.

1985 dodge powerwagon, lights went dim driving home now wont start, just replaced battery 6 months ago. starter clicked at first then nothing.

The alternator may not be charging the battery. Jump start it, and use a volt meter at the battery, red lead to positive and black to neg. The meter should read between 13 and almost 15 volts, any lower than 13 volts, the alternator is no good. (this is done with vehicle running).

Amp Power LED Display blinks red and no sound

With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red lead alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. Does the voltage on either the B+ or remote pulse below ~11 volts when the LED flashes?
