Check linkage , it may be broken or more like to be a adjustment issue.
Remove linkage , select neutral on the gear box , then select neutral on the control handel.
Now go back to the linkage and check and adjust the linkage so it goes back together with out pulling or pushing on the cables.
Once done check to see if it still starts in neutral and then that it wont start in gear.

Very possible you have a internal fault in the drive gear only.I would suggest that you remove it and have it rebuilt.We have a local company that rebuilds them for around 300 dollars.

The transmission will not operate in reverse or

hey, im not a professional but ive dealt with crappy a4ld's for about two years. just from what youve said it sounds to me like youre pump may have gone. it happened on my first one. if you remove the bellhousing it is directly behind it. there are 6 or so bolts. a new one can be purchased at cobra transmissions, however if the pump seems intact it could be a million other things. if i were you and you have some know how, buy a stick shift ranger and swap it out. its really not hard. if you have any questions email me at mcdonaldmowing@aol.com good luck

All the gear lube on my bravo III leaked out. The oil came out where the prop and the lower unit meet.

we had replaced the engine in our 87 4.3 star craft and when we put the omc cobra stern drive back in we now dont have foward gear, we have nuetral and reverse. could it be the linkage or could it be the shifter cable or any other idea's that could be the problem.

It could be your drive selector is not alligned correctly. Is it a automatic and does the needle lineup with the R? IF NOT, REMOVE BOTTOM COVER PLATE AND TRY TIGHTENING THE LINE.

Hi,

For most CB radios, some common components that fail and would cause a fuse to blow would be:
1. reverse protection diode located right after the power connector at the very rear of the board;
2. finals (2SC1306/7 or 2SC1969);
3. filter capacitor, 2200uF/16V;
4. audio amp IC located on the side of the chassis; and/or
5. 3 terminal voltage regulator (780X) or a zener diode.

Alternately, a wire (after the switch) might have been grounded.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turned up or should you need further information.

Good luck and kind regards.
