I have a green line running through my veiw finer and pictures.

I took my camera out the other day and noticed a green line running through the view finder. Took some pictures and when I down loaded them, the line was on them as well. What is happening? Is it worth fixing or do I just get a new one?

    Hello,
i was just looking for some advise,
im going over seas in november and really need my camera back and working.

    I own a Fuji S5000,
mayb for like 2 years now?

Just recently its gone all weird, when i turn the camera on,
the screen can go all pink and green (all lines through the screen)
i guess sort of like when a tv has no aerial but its black and white on a tv?

I went in to kodak (without the camera) as i was strolling through the shops and just thought i would ask and they said its either

    1. the screen is cracked / & leaked
(but it isnt because every now and then i can see the real picuter im trying to take.)

    or

    2. it is the computer chip inside the camera?

does number 2 sound right for my problem to you? (just by going on the info i have told you?)
If it is the computer chip inside, how much do you charge to fix this,
    (if you are able to?)?

Or is it just better off me getting a new camera as the problem will keep happening to me? / is just worth gettin a new cam?

Thanks so much for your time,
    i really appreciate it!

    Brooke

Randolou and Linchiek, sorry to say its most likely the CCD or associated circuitry, may be worth checking with fuji if its one of a faulty batch of sensors that were used a year or two back in many cameras, Some manufactures offered free repairs even out of warranty on cameras with these devices fitted.
may be worth un-clipping and re clipping the CCD's ribbon cable (if it has one in this model), though they are often not easy to get to.
as with any problem on a digital camera, a full reset and remove all batteries (main and backup) for a few hours is always worth a try

Snookiechook.
It depends on if the pictures come out ok when you download them.
If they do, its the screen or associated circuitry. check display ribbon, maybe buy a faulty one from ebay and swap out the screen.
if its on the pictures you take then as with the above its an electronic problem deep within.
Also try a reset as above..

Best of luck all

It sounds like your CCD image sensor is bad. Canon has issued a world wide technical notice regarding this, and will repair it at no cost if this is determined to be the problem, regardless of warranty.

Dear wwgirl:

Your problem initially sounded like a simple lens error (and was). However you now seem to have alsao developed a possible image sensor issue as well. Contact Canon Tech Support at 1-800-828-4040 to set up a repair of the camera.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
