Did u have comaptible driver for it, check for updated driver, otherwise it may be ur registry problem,
follow these steps
First verify you see a small sound icon in the Systray . If this icon is missing follow the below section
1. Open the Control panel
2. Open the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon.
3. Verify the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" checkbox is checked. If this option is not available or is grayed out, skip to the next section of this document.
4. If you were able to check this box, click ok and close out of this window and the Control Panel.
5. Double-click the sound icon in the Systray and verify that all the sound volumes are mid-way or higher.

Check Windows services. Right Click My Computer and Manage. Choose Services and Application > Services. Choose "Windows Audio" and set to Automatic and Start.
Now next you can do is
If you open control panel & click device manager the window that opens will show a list of all installed hardware. Look for anything with an exclamation mark beside it, or to do with sound. If you see anything, right click it, check it isn't Disabled then select "Properties." The next window should have some tabs along the top, the one you are looking for is "Driver," you should now see an "Update driver" button.
Check ur sound card information by doing this
Click on start menu
Click on Run
Type dxdiag, enter
Click on the sound tab
There is button of test direct sound click on this check if there is sound

Check ur registry. Check if the sound registry key is enabled or disabled. There could be an error in registry, run registry cleaner to scan for errors.reginout is recomended

I can't installed it

Windows XP should load drivers for the card automaticly, you may want to upgrade you system to SP3 if you havent already, Go in BIOS before start up and uninstall your onboard Audio driver under Onboard Periferals, click disable/turn it off, If you have an XP instulation cd you may be able to point windows to the Legacy driver.

    No volume icon

    Hi

You don't give any details or specifications of either your computer or its Audio/Sound Card/Chip. Please feel free to add a Comment or Clarification to this Question. Please include information about the type, model and specification of your computer and Audio/Sound Card/Chip. Doing so helps us makes faster, more accurate and more assured Remote Diagnostics leading to better quality and more useful Advice, Answers, Guidelines , How-Tos and Solutions.

If by "volume", you mean Audio, then this sounds like an Audio/Sound Driver fault or corruption.

When Audio/Sound Drivers are either not installed or the Audio/Sound Card/Chip is Disabled or Uninstalled in Device Manager, the Windows Volume and Mixer Controls can become Disabled until the Drivers are installed or repaired

Reinstall the Windows XP Audio/Sound Driver for the brand, type and model number of your computer from its Driver and Utilities CD. If you have no CD, download the Drivers and Utilities from the Support & Downloads Page of the computer manufacturer's website.

Since I do not know the details of your computer. I cannot, as I would otherwise have done, provide you with a link to the specific Download Page.

    I hope this helps.

How to activate the front panel 3.5 mm jack ??

Usually by plugging into that jack, the computer will notice you have done so. In some computers built by computer engineers after the failure of a motherboard or installation into a new case, the front panel audio connector is not installed so the front panel speaker and microphone connectors don't work.

You can see if your computer detects your front panel connections from Control Panel and clicking on Sound.

Why wont the computer acknowledge the built in mic

you may have to enable it in your BIOS under INTERGRATED PERIFERALS that should do the trick. I'm assuming its a laptop you are having problems with? And your running Vista? You should check if the correct drivers are installed for the microphone and if it comes up in your device manager. hope this helps

    Periferals

You need to uninstall/re-install the Bluetooth driver. Once the driver is uninstalled, reload the CD first to the computer and once you see a message "No Bluetooth device was detected", all you have to do is click on 'Cancel' and continue the installation. Run through the installation until you finish it.

Restart the computer and plug the GBU211 into the computer while the computer is restarting. This should help you.

    Have a great day!
