Question about Estate TEDX640JQ Electric Dryer

1 Answer

The dryer will not turn on when I hit the on button. The load I put in was small so it wasn't to heavy and I made sure the door was closed and it was still plugged in. I also checked my fuse box and that was fine. i set it to the setting i want & when i hit the start button nothing happens. I have only had the dryer for 3 1/2 years. I bought it from a scratch and dent store. Is this fixable or is it time for me to buy a new dryer. I dont have alot of money to put into it to fix it. Thanks

YOu have only checked on the outside and it looks fine. But you might have to take a look into the dryer to find the fault that is not letting the machine run.
So if you are familiar, check the power from the plug through the fuse to the control unit. If the settings are set right and the door is latched then the unit must work. But check the door latch and see if the safety trigger is coming to the board. If the motor hums check for the failure of the starter capacitor... the motor when touched will be warm.
If not the control board might be faulty, check power to unit, check relay , if diplay is right you can get the fault if probed logically.
If not familiar get help and I dont think it might be expensive exceptt for the control board and motor,.
Hope this helps.

When your dryer is heating up but want turn

Is your dryer door closing all the way? I think it is the start button not connecting to the electrical point it needs to touch to start because if it has gas heating it, that is why you have heat, its an electrical problem for sure..however it could be small problem but fixing elcetrical switches can be dangerous for someone who isnt trained to touch

My brand new dryer will not start. It turns on and you can select a cycle and settings but the display only flashes when you hit the start button. Can this problem be reset?

The new dryers are very sensitive about the door being open. There is a door catch on both the top and bottom of the door. Make sure it's closed well.

Check to see if you can spin the drum fairly easy. Also, try to leave the door open, hold the door switch in, and then start the dryer and give the drum a spin to see if it starts.

I tried to start the dryer (whirlpool LE5700XK or the LG5701XK, not sure which) and when I hit the start button there was a loud buzzing noise, but no start. I turned the dial to the off position, and then...

Could be a couple things, depending on the buzz you are getting, if it's a buzz from the board like an alarm, it could be a door switch, if it's an electric sounding humming buzz it could be something stuck in your blower wheel like a sock

Kenmore dryer does not turon on

CHECK THE FOLLOWING---

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in.

2. Door switch / Door switch actuator lever
The dryer would not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch would not activate and the dryer would not start. Replace the lever, if broken.

Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.

4. Timer/control
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

Problem with top dryer on stackable frigidaire

The switch may be bad or just not engaging when the door is closed. To test it you could tape something to the inside of the door right where the door meets the switch and see if it comes on. I did that and it worked. I use it as a temp. fix.
