Roper rgx5634kq2 gas dryer. Starts out lighting like it should. It runs for a minute or two then flame goes out, then after a minute it comes back on. It will do this cycle a few times and then it will not flame up again. The glow is there but no more flame. Coils? Thermal Fuse? I bypassed the heat sensor and that seems to work fine. I'm going to try and bypass the thermal fuse next. Any suggestions? Thanks!

It's not the thermal fuse, the dryer wouldn't run and the ignitor wouldn't glow.sounds like you have bad gas coils,if the dryer runs for the first 15 to 30 minutes normally and then no more flame the coils are failing, when they are bad they work until they heat up and then nothing, when they cool down they work again, common problem, also you should clean out the dryer once a year ,clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into,if your vent line is long take it off from the back of the dryer and blow it out with a leaf blower, make sure the outside vent is clear first, you can have a fire and then you can pop the thermal fuse, clean it and your clothes will dry on time, let me know what you find

One more thing to check off on the "Honey Do" list! I was talking to my buddy tonight and his dryer went bad on him and he got a new one(his drum wore through his door!). I asked him what it was and he said it was a GE gas dryer. He already had it apart so I asked if it had the 2 coils and sure enough it did so I went over and snagged his coils off his old dryer and they were the same. I put them on tonight and the first load is almost done drying and it works like a charm again lighting up every cycle. I'm gonna order up a new set just to have on hand if these ever go bad. I appreciate the help very much! Got the wife off my **** so now I can take our twin boys fishing this weekend!
    Thanks again,
    Don

Ignitor is lighting but silinoid is not opening to let gas through.Roper model # RGS7646KQ3

Hello,

Hello,
Your have one of two problem causing the gas to not come on on your dryer.
1) the flame sensor is bad...if the igniter comes on and stays on and doesn't go off...usually within 1 minute the flame sensor isn't working as its supposed to
2) the coils on the gas valve could be the problem...if the igniter does indeed go off within 1 minutes and as soon as the igniter goes off if their is no flame the coils on the gas valve is what would need to be replaced
here is what each part looks like

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

Roper RGX5634KQ2 Dryer will fire initially, and heat up. It will stay fired up for around 1-2 minutes, and go out. After another couple minutes, the igniter fires, but there is no flame. This continues...

Dryer starts up and flame starts for about 3-4 minutes and then flame goes out.

The pilot light lights? Then goe's back out? There is two stiff wires right in front of the flame. One of them is an ignightor, and the other one a thermocoupler. Or may just be one. That is the ignightor and thermocoupler. The thermocoupler is what detects that the pilot light lit. Its a saftey feature. It makes sure that there is fire before it turns on the main gas. So it wont blow up. It gets a film built up on it from the gas. Take some real fine sandpaper, or steel wool and clean it real good.
Then try again. It should work. If not then it needs to be replaced

I have a Roper Gas Dryer, Model #RGX5634KQ2 it runs off propane. The dryer turns on and tumbles. It lights, heat comes on for just a minute then goes out. Clothes want dry

The problem sounds like the dryer coils are failing. They tend to fail as they heat up. These are very inexpensive and easy to fix. It could be several other things thermal fuse, thermal cut out, hi limit thermostat, heat sensor,or ignitor. All of these parts are inexpensive and easy to test and replace. There is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html this will walk you thru the troubleshooting of these components. It may be a different model but the troubleshooting will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations. Not all models are available. If you need help disassembling your machine there are videos of this also for most styles.

I have a 6yro roper gas dryer. model : rgx5634kq2 everything works except it wont heat up ignitor is good as well as thermal fuse

Hello, If your igniter is glowing does not mean it's good, Take a look at it while it is glowing..Is it orange in color..Uneven glow? then it's bad...the igniter needs to be pulling 3.5 amps in order for a) the gas valve to open B) gas to ignite once gas valve opens. The glow should be a brillient yellow that you find hard to look at. If the igniter is bad the only other possibilty is the flame sensor. It is the gadget hooked to the side of the tube where the flame is. Using an ohms meter disconnect the 2 wires from the terminals and check for condinuity..If you have no reading (condinuity) you should replace it. Good Luck!!! If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Mike

Its blowing only cold air

Here are the break down diagrams and Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL RGX5634KQ2 | AppliancePartsPros.com

If the Ignitor comes on and lights the first stage then when the Ignitor comes on to light the second stage, there is no gas to light
The problem in such situation is a bad coil on the gas valve. No doubt about it.

- The part number for the coil kit is AP3094251
