I have a Coleman Evcon Air Conditioning Unit....for the FAU ...I have to remove both front panels and manually have to turn the fan to get the unit working...my question is....would this be some kind of problem with the relay between the thermostat and the FAU ? when I spin the fan blades by hand...it doesnt seem like it is rubbing...I have never experienced this problem...can somebody please help me??? I would truly appreciate it ! :)

Sorry to bother you with another question, however, I know nothing about FAU units. You stated that the motor has a capacitor that is replaced with the motor. Is the capacitor inside the motor? or attached to the motor?

I am grateful for the other experts advice and I asked another question, however, I have not heard back and I need to fix this problem...here is his response to what I asked and then I will ask you the other question that I had??(His answer to my question)??.The motor could have a bad winding in one of the many coils, however, I read that the motor has a capacitor that is replaced with the motor, but sold separately, and I couldn't find a part number, but here's the info:
Coleman blower motor 1468-220P has been updated to 024-35603-000
    1/3 HP, 1075 rpm, 2 speed
Original replacement for AO Smith motor # F42B45A48C
Fits most Coleman DGAA and DGAM models
Requires a new 7.5m capacitor Part#F-1022-5 sold seperately I would start with the capacitor, and go from there. Here is the whole web page that has Coleman parts:http://www.mhparts.com/coleman-evcon.php Good luck, hope this helps, and thanks for using FixYa.

my question is...I do not know anything about FAU units. The capacitor that he is talking about, is it inside the motor? attached to the motor? if I need to replace the part, I need to know what a capacitor is and where it goes...thank you in advance !!!

Hello,

If you are able to turn the fan on with the control switch, then spin it by hand and it accelerates to normal speed, that is not the symptom of a failed relay.

It sounds as if your start winding is open, or the run capacitor is weak. Replace the run capacitor first, then address the motor for replacment / rebuild.

Most fan motors will have a run capacitor that is attached (probably 2 brown wires goto the capacitor).

By far, the capacitor is the cheapest to replace. If it fixes the problem, then you are golden. If the motor needs repairs after all, it is recommended that the capacitor be changed as well. Some motor manufacturers require that the run (and start, if equipped) capacitor be replaced or warranty is void.

Did you get your AC up and running yet? Have you tried replacing the capacitor? What were your results?

Coleman evcon eg17a a/c unit cools but will not shut off once desired temp is reached how do i fix problem

Make sure your thermostat is set up correctly. Check out
How to Set the Thermostat FAN AUTO ON or OFF Switch function var po... just to make sure. If it is then try resetting the a/c. First turn the breaker off for the condenser and wait about 20 seconds. After you turn it back on the system should reset. If it is still giving trouble then id suggest you contact an Air Conditioning Repair Service.

We have a Coleman Evcon air conditioning unit model brcs036b and we cannot get it to turn on nor can we find if there are any fuses. the heater works but the actual fan motor for the air conditioner...

Check your stat. is it set properly on cooling, and low enough to turn the unit on, with power on and the stat calling for cooling you should at least get the fan and the out door to kick on, if not your stat or the transformer could be bad. there is a reset on the transf. on some of the unit that could be tripped

I have a coleman evcon system model BRHQ0301BC. The fan on the outside unit will not always kick on. When the fan does not kick on the AC does work. Need a manual for unit and help repairing the proiblem.

I don't have a manual but you need to check the fan capacitor and the fan motor windings with a multimeter. If the capacitor looks swollen then it is probably bad. Replace it with one of the same rating.

Coleman evcon dgat090bdd. New ignitor won't heat up.

Looks like 4 flashes might be high limit fault on this furnace. (I don't have a manual for this furnace, just searched online for the code meaning) Is the unit running flame at all? Is the unit running flame for a while then shutting flame off before desired temp is reached? Does the main air fan turn on to circulate air through your diffusers? Does it feel like the unit has much air flow out of the diffusers if the fan is running? Is your air filter clean? If it is infact your high limit switch, it is usually caused by not having enough airflow through the furnace and overheating occurs.

Hope this helped, let me know if I can assist you further :)

Carrier (outside) Coleman Evcon (inside) Air Conditioning question

transformer has just 4 leads. 2 for primary which is your 110 volts and 2 for secondary which is supposed to be 24 volts ac. if you splice the two secondary wires coming out of your transformer, you should be able to get a 24 v ac there.

the box that you are referring to could be a fire controller that in case of fire, it would shut off the fan and the compressor outside.

tnx 4 using fixya,
