Check the network adapters in control panel, right click on the wireless adapter, check to see if it was inadvertently set to "disabled" then there is also sometimes a wireless off/on soft switch like FN button and a corresponding number key (look for the wireless icon), and sometimes a wireless physical switch on the front or side. if the above all fails. Identify the adapter. I would flip it over to get at the bottom, next I'd take the bottom cover off to expose the wireless adapter, this cover is typically marked with an antenna icon on the bottom. the card fits into a small slot about 1 inch wide held in by two clips on the outside. very easy to get out. then look at all the markings to identify what wireless make/model the card it is. and you can also check to make sure its not gotten knocked out of its seat. Now you know what your dealing with you can surf to the manufacturers website and look for a "driver" or software for your operating system. eg. vista. or xp. download, install , reboot. and with an ounce of luck. it will now work. (alot of these adapters also install ) best of luck. Cheers

HP dv1000 laptop and internal wireless modem

Although you have internal wireless, you are capable of attaching an external wireless device. For example, you could attached a D-Link WUA-1340 USB Wireless G adapter (http://www.dlink.com/products/?sec=0&pid=477), or, if you have a PCI port, you can use a Linksys WPC300N Wireless-N Notebook adapter (http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1144763513196&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=1319686869B07). Either device with any brand will work just like your internal wireless. In fact, because you chose to use an external device, you may get a better wireless signal. Because internal wireless devices are inside the computer, it is more difficult to received a signal than with an external device.

You need a wireless modem and wireless laptop card in order to acheive this.

A35 internal modem does not work

There may also be a key combination on your keyboard to enable/disable it. check for that first.

If that doesn't do it then i would reinstall the wireless driver from http://pcsupport.toshiba.com for your model and see if that helps.

Most wireless issues are software not hardware but if none of that does it the easiest thing is to buy a PC card.

Good luck!
