I cant open files it shows lots of programs to use but use to open on own

I had a lot of problem with .ai files. Last time I was searching appropriate method. Take a look at Illustrator Restore Toolbox - it was in Google, I used it, software liked me a lot, check it out.

To be able to open a file (however you obtained it through Skype, email, any way) your computer must have an application that is able to read it. For a pdf you need Adobe Acrobat (Reader) or other programs. To open a .doc, .docx you need Word.
Nowadays, a lot of programs can open various formats. Sometimes it happens that the association of a program with file extension has been severed and the file does not open automatically.

The other programs on your computer don't work with your camera. You need to download the files to either your desktop or a folder you create on your desktop. Then, try opening them.

Make sure only adobe 9 is the only version of adobe reader you have installed on that computer. Then go to where your PDF file is and right click on it with the mouse and go into properties.

In the general tab where it says type of file it will show you what program is opening up the PDF file. Click on the change button and where it says recommended programs see if Adobe reader is there, if its not then down below where it says other programs click on the down arrow and see if adobe reader shows up there. If it shows up in either section then choose it, then click on apply, and then click on okay.

Now if for some reason adobe reader doesn't show up in either section, then you'll need to browse for it. It normally installs itself in the program files folder, then double-click on it and go into the adobe folder, Adobe 9.0 and then the reader folder. The name of the reader program looks something like acrord32 and it will say application to the right of it. At that point choose it and apply the changes so it opens up with Adobe reader.

right click on the file you want to open - go to "open with"
than select the program that you do want to open them
it will save the definition

it seems a lot of people have been halted by this error . u have not mentioned , if u were dloading it from internet or from a networked computer ...
but people who faced this error , had a malware on their system which seems to give probs in opening an .exe file ..

usually if you cant open a file its because you dont have the right program to read it.if you go to adobe.com you can download adobe reader 9 for free and that reads most attachments,if you have any more problems readind files,please contact me again and and we can find what you need.

If you have just one drive then it might be possible you have lot of unwanted files in it. Recovery files dont take too much space usually. So best suggestion so to go for some cleaning.

That will remove lot of unwanted stuff on your system
check if you some hidden files too.. you can open any folder-->tools-->folder options-->view-->show me hidden files
check in you C drive or main drive you might have lot of unwanted folders in there. Remove all unwanted programs from Add/remove programs in control panel
and finally dont forget recycle bin

Funny you should rate my last solution post, almost there, yet you cleaned the temp files, surely thats problem solved??, along with instructions to convert to ntfs You should find the backup programme on accessories>system tools> backup. If it's not there then you have to get hold of an XP cd and look in the 1386 folder, open NTBACKUP folder and run the installation.
