Amana side by side fridge makes a groaning noise when freezer is shut, no ice buildup nothing, just groans when light button is pushed

When light goes out, fan starts inside. Groaning sounds like the fan is hitting on something or has a dry bearing. Spray with wd40 on the shaft

I have a Danby DUF1596WE standing freezer. There is ice build up on the back wall. The fan is making a very loud noise. The freezer is still working. I had to shut it off due to the loud noise.

The chances are that the ice buildup is now in contact with the fan, hence the noise when fan hits ice.

As a short term fix, power the freezer off and let it defrost naturally, this will cure the immediate problem. In the long term, I presume that this is a self defrosting freezer, so you appear to have aproblem with the defrost cycle. You MAY find that a long power off and defrost will cause things to reset and it may well cure your problem anyway

Freezer ajar loud noise

Yes Evaporator fan that has ice accumulation in it. Turn off the unit and leave the freezer open for about an hour or two re-start it and hopefully the frost that built up from the freezer being ajar will have thawed and melted away.
good luck to you!

Our refrigerator just suddenly started to make this loud grinding sound..it appears to be coming from the freezer side. I turned off the ice make and reduced the freezer temperature but it still keeps...

This could be a failure of the evaporator fan. Also maybe some ice has formed from water dripping from the ice maker and had now produced an icicle which could be hitting the fan blade of the evaporator motor. Remove back cover to the freezer/fan and check the fan operation while it is running.

FREEZER IS FINE. FRIDGE STILL NOT COOLING

it sounds like your circulation fan is not working. it is located in the freezer compartment in front of the evaporator or very close to it. you should hear running either all the time except in the defrost cycle. on some models the fan will shut down when you open the freezer door and restart when you close it. if the fan is OK you have a problem in your defrost circuit. probably a bad heating element or a bad defrost cutout switch or bad connections in the freezer compartment. sometimes the defrost timer can go bad but not often. I have found in my experience that the problem is usually the other two components I mentioned or bad connections.

CHECK THE FAN ALL THE COOLING IS DONE IN THE FREEZER SECT. THE FAN CIRCULATES THE AIR TO THE FRESH FOOD AREA. IF ITS FROSTED UP IN THE FREEZER YOU MAY HAVE DEFROST ISSUES.MAKE SURE THE DRAWER IS SHUTTING ALL THE WAY, NOTHING THAT FELL BEHIND THE DRAWER

It is making a buzzing noise on freezer side that stops when u open the door but starts again when u close it

On some models of refrigerators, the evaporator fan (behind an access panel at the top of the freezer) shuts off when the door is opened. This fan may be making the buzzing sound.

You should be able to check by pushing in the door switch while holding the door open. The fan should come on; and, if the buzzing resumes, you know what is making the noise. The fan may be developing a problem. If it stops running, the cold air will not be distributed properly between the freezer and refrigerator.
