Question about ASUS Computers & Internet

1 Answer

"P6X58D Premium" Motherboard Fed-X must have dropped it or thrown it during shipping and tore out the DVD drive. They completely sheared off the pins holding the DVD drive in place. To make a long story short, the DVD drive broke loose and slammed into the motherboard, and sheared/broke off 2 of the capacitors in the top right corner as showing in the attached pictures, and dented a couple more ... I have looked and looked and cannot find replacement capacitors to repair this motherboard. The capacitor is stamped FP5K 038x 5 6 1 6.3 which seems to translate into aluminum electrolytic capacitors 5,000 uF at 6.3 volts If you could contact somebody, that you know, that could send me 4 or 5 capacitors ... 2 that were broken off, and a couple more that were dented pretty good ... I sure would appreciate it ... Most Sincerely, Dale R Barnes 2301 Lincoln Ct Brandon, FL 33510 United States 813-315-8082 814-321-5333

We have no connection to any parts suppliers, Fed x or the manufacturer of the board. Sorry, we are a technical assistance site, no parts resources.

Maggie, Did you replace the mother with the SAME MODEL NUMBER?
The replacement Motherboard might have had that problem when you bought it if it was a used MB. Contact the seller to discuss the problem and ask for a replacement.

This is an very new model of addon card for which there is no driver in the Express Gate - which is just a stripped down Slackware Linux operating system - so the system ignores it and everything plugged into it. Since adding a Linux driver (which doesn't even exist at this moment according to the manufacturer) to an embedded OS like that is extremely difficult you should just connect your keyboard and mouse in another onboard USB socket - if necessary use a $5 hub which you can buy at Walmart.

When trying to restore my u series 9, (ST3160022ACE) ultra ATA 160 gig hard drive I get this message: Restore was not successful. Remove any USB or Extra Hard drives taht are connected. I have no USB or...

If by "restore" you mean that you are reinstalling Windows onto the disk-drive, to restore Windows to the "as-shipped-from-the-factory" condition, then a failure of that operation can be caused by either of three conditions:

* I/O errors reading files from the CD/DVD disks (due to dust/fingerprints on the bottom of the disks),

* I/O errors writing files to the disk-drive,

* an intermittent problem with the computer's motherboard or RAM, causing "random" failures when using the computer.

So, on another computer, take the CD/DVD disks, and try to copy the entire contents (namely up to 4.7 GB) onto the 'C:' drive, watching for any "I/O errors" during the file-copy operation.
If the file-copy completes successfully, then the copy of the files can be deleted.

If no errors occur, then it's time to suspect that the disk-drive itself is failing.
Buy a new disk-drive, and disconnect the old disk-drive, and connect the new disk-drive,
and restart the "restore" operation. If the "restore" fails on the new disk-drive,
then it's time to suspect that the motherboard has a problem.

How do I hook up a DVD drive on a P6x58D-E motherboard? The PC I have now has IDE cables and this P6 motherboard has no IDE connector.

You can use a sata to IDE converter, they are available on Ebay quite cheaply, just make sure you get one the right way around for what you need (IDE to Sata in your case)
Alternatively if you don't want to fiddle around with converters you could just buy a Sata dvd drive, they are not that expensive if you shop around.

WASHER WILL NOT DRAIN OUT WATER COMPLETELY AND WILL NOT SPIN IT IS A FRIGIDAIRE GALLERY

The reason it is not spinning out completely is because it sounds as though you have a partially sheared motor coupler which sits on the drive shaft and is located between the tub and gearcase (transmission). Does the tub spin during agitation?

Brand new Reebok v6.80 treadmill, trouble on start up!

I just had the same thing happen to me with the same treadmill. I called Reebok and they had me remove the motor hood. Sure enough, the bolts holding the motor had completely sheared off and the motor was lying loose in the bottom of the treadmill. They are sending a new motor and bolts and a technician to install them. They said it was probably dropped hard during shipping.
