Check where the wires from the individual lights connect to the main power cord. Many times, that is a problem area. An automotive 12 volt test light is real handy working on these as sometimes the 12 volt low voltage bulbs look good, but aren't.

Christmas Light Problem

Finding the Bad Bulblights1b.gif Ideally, the bad bulb will be dark while the rest of the string remains lit. But often that does not happen. The lights in these strings are basically in series, and any open connection, whether in a wire, at a socket, or even inside a bulb, will turn off that whole circuit. Normally the bulbs have a "shunt" which shorts the bulb when it experiences full line voltage. That leaves the bad bulb OFF, and the rest of that circuit ON, which shows which bulb to replace. Unfortunately, the shunt often fails to operate, and then an entire circuit is off. One possibility is to go down the string light-by-light and remove a bulb, test it, then put it back if it tests good. But not only is that a heck of a lot of work, it has the potential to make things much worse: When the string does not light up we cannot know that we have seated a bulb properly. These strings generally have sockets that work well enough as long as we leave the bulbs in the socket. But when we put a bulb in, we may have to try several times before the socket makes contact. Only when the string lights up do we know we have been successful in seating a bulb. So if we are working on a dark string, we might find the bad bulb, and yet have the string still not light because several of the bulbs we re-seated are not making good contact.

How do i remove the head light on a 2008 chevy Malibu

Headlights grow dimmer by up to 20% over time and eventually burn out - for this reason, we recommend changing your headlights in pairs. Changing both headlight bulbs on your Malibu at the same time will allow both bulbs to have the same intensity and prevent the new headlight bulb from appearing brighter than the bulb on the opposite side. In some Chevrolets, the highbeam is the same bulb as the headlight and it is possible for the highbeam to work, but the headlight be burnt out even if they are the same bulb (and vise versa). Some Chevrolets have high intensity discharge headlights, sometimes referred to as xenon lights. These bulbs have a very high voltage that runs through them, even if the battery is disconnected. If your Malibu has this type of bulb, we do not recommend that you attempt to change it yourself.

When you change the headlight on your Malibu, it is important to not touch the glass part of the bulb with your fingers because the oil from your fingertips will cause that part of the bulb to burn hotter, which significantly shortens the life of the bulb.

Hope this helps! :)

Malibu transformer on but lights dont work

Voltage drop because transformer is not putting out enough power as when it was new.
Or Short along the wire somewhere.
Connect new wire and 1 bulb, but do not connect to existing wire.

Oil pressure light stays on even though the oil level is fine

That could be from not having any oil pressure "oil pump failure, clogged filter, etc" or from a faulty oil pressure sending unit. More tests would need to be performed but is it really an oil pressure light or is it the change oil light. More info would be needed

Intermatic Inc. ML121RT Low Voltage 121-Watt Power Pack with Timer: I've had malibu lights for around 4 years,I have ...

If other lights are working the power pack is OK. Usually, as in your case, if changing the bulb doesn't work, check the connection where the light ties into the main run.

2002 Malibu brake lights won't work

You can look into the tail light assembly through the small holes in the inside at the medal bands to look for corrosion or rust. The seal in these lights are bad about leaking and loosing connection. I usually pick one up from a salvage yard. They range in cost from $50 to $125. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Timer not working Malibu ML88T Power pack

there are multipul 12 timers on the market BUT if you use a 12 volt power pack designed for a car radio display or even a simple 12v 5 amp laptop power suply and a cheep outdoor timer or cheeper indoor timer and run wires inside you can add lights
remember theise lights are low voltage and if you change the bulbs out you can really strech out the amprage too
low amp led automotive bulbs are a great invention they draw mili amps and use 12 volts
i converted my noma moonrays to a laptop power supply and added 30 more to a single string so i curently have 50 lights on 1 power suply pulling aprox 4.5 amps out of a 5A power supply i used led bulbs and simple moma cord now i can light the whole back yard with 1 ps and it's really bright if i use the led headlamps mounted under the soffit on the house

Malibu Lights have voltage but 2 in the string of

If voltage is present, it has to be the bulb, usually, depending on the socket. Look at the socket closely, and make sure that the base makes proper contact with the bulb. They can distort just enough to trick you. If you can, make a set of mini-jumpers with alligator clips and wire. Connect from the base (socket) to a known good bulb. It's quite possible that there can be voltage present in the wiring, and none to the light, indicating that either there is a problem with the connection where the wiring passes through on the way to the next light, or in the fixture itself. My guess is that in the press-on connection, one of the spikes has missed the wire. Take that apart and reconnect; it'll probably do the trick.
