Question about Sunbeam 2370 MixMaster Series Stand Mixer

1 Answer

The food processor driveshaft jumps out of engagement when feeding vegetables in. The slot on the end of the driveshaft does not appear worn, to my eye. But it does not snap onto the engaging crosspin down inside the drive port, it engages (and disengages) easily and freely. Should it "click" into place? Could the crosspin (which is very hard to see) be worn? If so, can it be replaced?

The product model listed is not my product, which is Mixmaster MM1000. When I entered my product model, the programme reverted to the default Mixmaster 2370. I notified FixYa but received an e-mail that the product model cannot be changed to my model. Therefore, I do not think your remarks apply.

There is no electrical wire involved. The food processor is driven mechanically by a driveshaft which inserts into a hole in the top of the mixer. A slot in the end of the drivesmethinhaft engages a crosspin down in the hole. But it engages easily, and when in use it pops up, makes a great noise, and does not drive the blade.

Something went wrong with your reply, because I cannot understand instructions such as the following:

"see if you can fine the loose wire i disc oust about if there is non the it"

    Thank you. --Garry Marnoch

Hello,

what the problem of engages and disengage indicate from your explanation is that there have been a failure of wire that is apower supply problem .

but for the shaft that jump out from it position it can be replace back to it place

carefully unscrew the processor from the screw if any with a screw driver (technician tools) then first of all try to see if you can fine the loose wire i disc oust about if there is non the it then mean that the shaft have gone bad which will need a replacement to get a better one of it and the same size you will have to take the processor to the store that a technician store around you well you can get a good part that will be compatible or at the producer office or branch.

thank you and thanks for using fixya.

When itry to make bread dough in the mixer, the bowl locking mechanism doesnt work properly and the bowl moves and top of mixer jumps around how can i fix this

You need to make sure that the hinge pin is tight, turn machine completely upside down and tighten the slotted screw up inside the pedestal. If that doesn't fix it you will need to check that the locking lever is properly engaging in the slot. You may need to "SLIGHTLY" file the slot in the pedestal that the lever engages into. If you go mad with the file you could wreck the slot.

I have the fruit and vegetable strainer attachments to my Kitchen Aid Mixer. I was processing concord grapes, and the grape seeds and skins have gotten stuck between the white plastic auger and the metal...

Put the square auger end in a vise and lock it down, get a heavy terry cloth rag and wrap it around the cone and turn back and fourth by hand, (the cone is not strong enough to take any pressure from tools) until it starts to move, then keep turning back and forth while applying a lifting motion to the cone. That,s how I get mine apart when I get orange seeds stuck in it.

Oil came from my mixer

You have a bad gasket in your mixer, the oil inside from KA is 6 oz. and the oil is due to separation, as KA uses a food safe vegetable based grease and after periods of non use it separates, liquids from solids, and leaks when the gasket seal goes. It is a messy fix but fairly easy, ereplacmentparts.com has a video on it. hope this helped

Beaters are hitting each other and jamming up

One of the beaters had jumped a gear. I understand they are nylon gears. My wife's had the same trouble. I unplugged the mixer, removed the bowl and install the beaters if you can to see where they are touching. They were two cogs off. I grapped the left (red) beater firmly and twisted it to the left. It took a couple tries and turning on the motor (with out beaters) to find the spot where they had skipped. In the end the left beater jumped back one then two teeth and now the beaters aline properly.
This will happen again with heavy dough, etc. now that the teeth are worn in that spot. Use a bread machine for the heaver dough. IMHO

H600t has a grinding sound when engaged

All you can do is take to top off and look inside. Look for damaged gears, shafts that move sideways slightly (or more than slightly) when power is applied, that sort of thing.

Also look for a worn gearshift. Be sure that it engages fully in each gear- observe and see how the mechanism works, there's an overrun clutch with dogs that can drag if the shifter is worn or out of adjustment.

There's not much to go wrong with a Hobart, they seldom fail and are generally easy to repair. Replace the grease while you're in there, if you don't like bearing grease call around and find some food grade grease, a lot of auto parts stores carry it now.

The attachment for grinding meat on the front wont work ? mixing arm in bowl works fine ! why wont it engage?

Firstly I would check it is fully engaged. If it is, remove the food grinder and look into the hole. You should be able to see a square hole inside. Turn on the mixer, the square hole should spin, if it does not, one of the gears inside the head has most likely broken. To repair this you will need to take the head apart.

The other possibility is that I misread your problem and that the grinder is turning, but the meat wont go through the plates at the end. This is a common issue which happens if the blade is not put in the end of the grinder. The blade is shaped like a cross and cuts the meat when it reaches the end of the screw.
