Diagram will be hard to get, but you should do the visual inpsection of the DC filter caps in the power supply which are very common problems with all LCD monitors.<br /> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'"><a rel='nofollow' href="http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums">http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums</a></span><br /> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'">Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.</span><br /> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'"><a rel='nofollow' href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague</a><span style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </span></span><br /> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'">Capacitors kit: <span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span><a rel='nofollow' href="http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/">http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/</a><span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>he can make you a set of caps for you.</span><br />

Powers on...no display

gradyshiffle, Read the fixya profiles of lcd monitor technicians by typing in their fixya "nickname" in the "search for solutions...." bar on the fixya screen and click search. Here are some nicknames.... "budmrtn" "buddymc" "louie12fix" (me) After doing some reading and visiting YOUTUBE, you will then know and understand the problem your lcd monitor may have, and then you will be able to make decision on how you will cope with this common problem that ALL LCD MONITORS with black screen of death may eventually die from. 12fixlouie

Hi, when I turn my computer on the monitor shows image briefly then turns black, it stays this way until I turn the monitor off then on again, what is wrong with it?

diva_5, You will need to use warranty first. If warranty not option, You or qualified electronics technician will need to repair the "switch-mode-power-supply"/"CCFL inverter supply" so that the CCFL tubes will stay lighted for another 2000 hours. That's my best guess. Do some reading in my and other fixya lcd monitor tech's profiles for lots more info on this very common CCFL back-lit lcd monitor problem. If reading and DIY repair isn't your thing, then skip it and trade-in unit for new. DIY repair can sometimes cost less than $10 if you have tools and know how to solder. Contracting out the work will cost upwards of $40-$70. Read before you do anything about your "black" or "blank n black" screen monitor!!! Good kuck with repair. 12fixlouie

HPvs17x power flicker on/off no image, 3-10min after image ok!

More likely to have failing power supply problem due to bad caps, look for caps with bulging top first and post back what you see inside, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Flicking on and off

If the LCD screen flicks on and off and you can see a dim image on the screen when you view at a sharp angle, then most likely you have a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp.

Monitor

If you see a very dim image or black screen or flicking image on the LCD screen it means you have a backlight problem.

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Monitor problems with kds

The monitor is either overheating, or (more likely I think) the overheat sensor is sending a false overheat signal.

I've heard it can be bypassed by either clipping the sensor or clipping and then shorting the leads. I can't confirm that and I don't know what the sensor looks like or what it is.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
