My tc1100 is only working on AC power.once i unplug the power cord it goes to standby and asks me to chnage battery or plug it on power if I dont want to lose my work. I pressed the button at the back of the battery only one is lit up.. What can I do?
When the Batt is inserted and you are on AC power do you have a lit charge light? It's the one in the center of the three at the lower right when you are in landscape mode.
If your batt is at "end of mission" (**** up) then it's ability to hold and take a charge may be very limited. Calibrating the batt might help. You will need the toaster style charger.
If this is the issue, then the charge light may only stay on for a few seconds at a time when you first attach AC power, so be watching.
I could recommend a new batt (e-bay) if thats your only trouble. Nothing lasts forever. I'm in Missouri and will calibrate your batt if you want to mark it and ship it. Let me know.

Whenyou connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED lightup? If not then -
The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's powersocket could be faulty.
Check power adapter's DCplug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltageshould be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on thebottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that isprinted on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced.
If the adapter is OK thenconnect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/batterycharging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's powersocket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position thisLED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a drysolder joint where it is connected to the motherboard.
This can be repaired but itrequires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket andrepair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.
try pressing F8 then safe mode with command prompt after that when the windows is open type chkdsk on the command prompt. then after its finished scanning press quit, if it has an error type chkdsk/f to fix the problem.
Battery may be faulty, perhaps you can swap with another user to rule this out. Do the battery charge level lights on the back of the battery show a full charge? (Press the rounded square button on the back of the battery itself and note whether the 3 green leds light up or not) Has the battery been calibrated? (You will need the "toaster" style or the DT533A charger to do this). I assume that your battery is secure and properly seated, but try taping it down from the back side just to be sure it is snug. Don't use duct tape, just regular scotch style tape or blue masking tape. Also try laying on your back to hold the unit upside down and power it up. Check the small metal fins that mesh with the battery. They are right above the right side of the windows cert of auth sticker when turned as you would to read it. They are NOT all the same length, do not push or pull them, but if one is bent you may try to straighten it VERY carefully with very small tools. What happens if you unplug while up and running? How does the power jack feel when you insert or remove it? any looseness may indicate your trouble. A good tech can repair your trouble. Are you sure that you are not under warranty? HP still sells extended warranty for these machines. My original warranty expired in Sept and I bought extended warranty for another year. I'm in central MO if you are close by at all I would meet up and swap a batt for a minute for you. Also, you may get a lil more usability with a car cord if the problem cannot be resolved at all. Best of luck! I love my tc1100
and the older brother tc1000 as well. I have several of each.
