Question about Heating & Cooling

Hello sir/ma'am the heat (look like a heater) icon is appearing on the thermastat display beneath the temperature. how do i switch it to air and the snowflake icon to blow cool air. thanks for the assistance

Look for the switch ..their should be HEAT-OFF-COOL the switch should be located next to these words ..you may have to remove a cover plate on the thermostat to switch to cool .you can find it ..let me know good luck..

Temperature blending is varied by the air temperature control door, which regulates the amount of air that flows through and/or around the heater core (18476) , where it is then mixed and distributed.
Movement of the control knob from COOL (Blue) to WARM (Red) causes a corresponding movement on the air temperature control door and determines the temperature that the system will maintain.
Temperature Control
The temperature control operates in the following manner:
  • Temperature control of the heater system is determined by the position of the temperature control knob (between COOL-BLUE and WARM-RED) of the heater control .
  • This control knob is connected to a potentiometer mounted in the heater control . This potentiometer is electrically connected to the electric blend door actuator that operates the A/C air temperature control door.

My engine temperature gauge reads hot but heating system is not working. Outside temperature is below zero


It is possible that somehow your heater core is either blocked or airlocked. Best thing to do is to feel the two hoses that go to and from the heater core when the engine is up to normal operating temperature. If one hose is hot and the other is barely warm than you have a blocked up heater core. If you feel both hoses and they are barely warm than it is possible that you have an airlock in the system. The airlock is mostly likely to occur if you have recently had your heating system worked on such as a new radiator, thermastat, etc. If both hoses are hot then it could possibly be the heater blend doors inside the heater box could be stuck in the cold position. They are controlled from the switches on the dash. When you adjust the heat setting on the dial from hot to cold or cold to hot it moves the blend doors to either let more cold air in or more heat in. Hope this was helpful. Happy motoring.

I put a brand new heater core, radiator, water pump an thermastat but it still takes forever to blow heat out an then it doesn't get that hot.. what's the problem? my vehicle is a 1995 jeep wrangler 2.5 4...


Could be the heater bypass valve is stuck or the heater core is blocked.
I'd check the heater core first.You may have trapped air in the cooling system or the heater core may be partially plugged up. Engine coolant is delivered to the heater core through two heater hoses. With the engine idling at normal operating temperature, set the temperature control knob in the full hot position, the mode control switch knob in the floor heat position, and the blower motor switch knob in the highest speed position. Using a test thermometer, check the temperature of the air being discharged at the HVAC housing floor outlets.
Temperature Reference
Ambient Air Temperature 15.5° C (60° F) 21.1° C (70° F) 26.6° C (80° F) 32.2° C (90° F)
Minimum Air Temperature at Floor Outlet 52.2° C (126° F) 56.1° C (133° F) 59.4° C (139° F) 62.2° C (144° F)
If the floor outlet air temperature is too low, Both of the heater hoses should be hot to the touch. The coolant return heater hose should be slightly cooler than the coolant supply heater hose. If the return hose is much cooler than the supply hose, locate and repair the engine coolant flow obstruction in the cooling system.
OBSTRUCTED COOLANT FLOW
Possible locations or causes of obstructed coolant flow: Pinched or kinked heater hoses. Improper heater hose routing. Plugged heater hoses or supply and return ports at the cooling system connections. A plugged heater core. If proper coolant flow through the cooling system is verified, and heater outlet air temperature is still low, a mechanical problem may exist.
MECHANICAL PROBLEMS
Possible locations or causes of insufficient heat: An obstructed cowl air intake. Obstructed heater system outlets. A blend door not functioning properly.
TEMPERATURE CONTROL
If the heater outlet air temperature cannot be adjusted with the temperature control knob on the A/C Heater control panel, the following could require service: The A/C Heater control. The blend door actuator.

Cycles to temp, then heat shuts off and will not reignite


Hello,This problem is going to be your safety valve coils...basically they get old and over time of heating then cooling develop a short when they heat up...It may appear the gas lights to start but then goes out until the safety valve coils cool back down. Thermostat


Heat pump Thermastats have Terminals RYW/OW2 G C. I run into this a lot with people buying tStats at home depot. To wire three sages of heat you must have correct tstat. one stage cool and three stage heat. You have to have enough wires at the Tstat. I use white first stage brown second and grey or black third. Make a diagram where each wire goes. Remember to trun of air handler power or you will short the transformer or blow low voltage fuse. Yellow cool, green fan, most of the time blue is c unless it is a battery tstat. orange is O. Red R ot power wire. Rusty

Honeywell thermostat T8400c started flashing, heat/cool was off. Display flashes all icons (heat and cooling icons, temperatures, everything) and on the oppposite flash, the setpoint is displayed. The fan...


Based on the simplicity of this particular t-stat, I really think that it is bad and needs to be replaced. They do not make this particular model anymore. I have included a link to the operators manual for the stat. Good luck!

Overheating


Posible thermastat sticking closed. If thermastat doesn't open heated water is trapped in the engine causing it to run hot and not allowing hot water to travle to the heater core when called for.

Honeywell HZ-705.....HELP!!!!


Should have oil in it. I don't think you can refill it. If it has leaked out, it's probably no good. Anyway, here are the instructions.


Press the *power button* once to start the heater on high power, continuous run. If left at this setting, the unit will run continuously on high power (1500 watts, 12.5 amps) and will not shut off until the unit is manually turned off.
Press the *power button* again, to change to low power, continuous run, (900 watts, 7.5 amps) and will not shut off until the unit is manually turned off.

Set temperature:

Press the temp/timer button until the temperature icon blinks. Use the up and down arrows to set the desired temperature.
The temperature icon will stop blinking and the current room temperature will reappear after the desired temperature is set.

The heater will turn off and on to achieve the desired temperature.

Set timer: (auto off)

Press the timer/timer button until the timer icon blinks. The hour display will appear. The auto off icon will also appear.
Use the up and down arrow buttons to set the heater operation time between 1 and 10 hours. This function will activate once the timer icon stops blinking. The heater will automatically turn off whn the times runs out.

Set timer: (auto on)

Press the temp/timer button until the timer icon blinks. The hour display will appear. The auto on icon will also appear.
Use the up and down arrow buttons to set the heater start time between 1 and 10 hours. This function will activate once the timer icon stops blinking.
The heater will automatically turn on when time expires.
