Where do you see "HR"? If it appears in the viewfinder or display - what are you doing when it is seen? What mode are you in? Is there a speedlight on the hot shoe? Please provide as much info as possible. I do not recall ever seeing it on my D70 - and I can't find mention of it in the manual.

The camera went dead: the shutter not provoking a response. The screen said "this card can't be used" and, HR appeared in the control panel. The camera did, recently, say the card was unusable, but I was still able to use it, but not this time.

The shutter stopped getting a response and the screen back of the camera said the card could not be used. Then the control panel showed HR. The camera recently said the card couldn't be used but it operated anyway, and I was able to get some shots which I was able to post. But this time it kept shouting HR at me, and wouldn't budge!

Hi. HR is an error code which is related to the memory card. It doesn't have exact meaning (as far as I know, its not in the manual and website).

There are several possibilities why you are getting this error. It could be corrupted memory card, damaged pin, loose connection between the memory card and camera, dirty contacts, camera is not giving enough power to memory card, etc...

Some fixes that may work:
- Make sure your battery is fully charged.
- Remove memory card and put it back making sure the connection is not loose.

or
- Clean the gold contacts using pencil eraser. Remove eraser dust with cotton buds.

or
- Format the memory card on the camera.

- If all fails, use a different memory card.

Good luck.

I have Nikon af s 300mm f2.8, it only work with D3s, D300s but not with my D70. Can you tell me why and is it lens problem or camera

Hiyour lens should be af-s 300/2.8 vr.. nikon product are all compatible. which means your d70 something wrong I think. If you have bundle lens with d70, you can check it out easy. usually d70 comes with af-s 18-55 which is pretty much same work method with af-s 300. THanks and best regard!

My nikon d70 says that file does not contain image data

Hi,
If the memory card came from a different camera and inserted into the Nikon D70, the error message will appear. Just format the memory card with the D70 and the error should disappear.
Hope this helps.

Received an r05 notation on the number of exposure box of my Nikon D70. What does this mean? There is not annotation to such an error notice in the manual.

It's simply telling you that you can take five more pics in a burst before the buffer fills up. It's not an error, it's supposed to do that.

It's only a problem if it gets to r00 and stays there.

Cant take any pictures ... code reads off r33 what does that mean

check to see if auto lever on rear is on dot. I accidentally moved mine and camera would not focus or fire when I was in automatic mode. I went to manual and everything was okay. Switched back to full auto and had same old problem.

D70 USB setting issue

Users of Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Mac OS 9.x may experience problems trying to download images from the Nikon D70 using Nikon View. Initial shipments of the D70 have the USB option in the "Set up" menu set to PTP - Picture Transfer Protocol. PTP is only compatible for downloading images with Windows XP and Mac OS X. To solve this issue please set the USB menu option to Mass Storage and then connect the camera to the computer. The D70's card will then mount like a removable disk and Nikon View will be able to transfer images
