Ok this can ba a bit more difficult you will have to get into were you can see were the power comes into the unit at that point check you contactor to ensure you are getting power through it if you are the shut off power to the unit located your capacitor ground out a terminal it should give literaly a SPLIT second of power if it does locate you compressor you will have three wires coming into it one marked start one marked run and one common at this point you will need a multimeter set your meter to ohm touch start to common write down what you get now test run to common write down what you get now add those together write down what you get now test from start to run that should give you the same number that you just got after addin the two previous numbers together if they dont match up your compressers out if they do then locate your wiring diagram and go through the wiring to make sure everything is tight and connected make sure to check for burns as they will mark a bad connection

Sounds like you may have a couple of problems there. First, have you checked incoming voltage to make sure you are getting 100-120 VAC at the AC control board in ceiling? If that's ok, try removing/disconnecting Ac compressor wire at ceiling control box and see if compressor shuts off then. May be a capacitor for compressor going or shot, and possibly relay in control box sticking, or bad wiring to thermostat. Have you had any lightning in the area prior to all this happening?

Compressor will not stop running

There has to be a stat or switch or controller of some kind on the rv. I would check that first. If you have a battery operated stat then try changing the batts, otherwise it could be the contactor on the unit or a bad stat.

Test procedure for elements and thermostat

Remove upper and lower access panels
in upper access, use voltage tester to test voltage of on the uppermost terminals above the red reset button. should be ~220V between terminals (110 to ground)
If not: breaker off or bad,
If 220V proceed:
Test the two terminals immediately below this reset button should be 220V
If not: reset tripped or bad
If 220V present, proceed.
Turn off breaker to heater.

Use ohm meter or continuity tester.
test resistance across upper element terminals -should be 10 to15 ohms
check between each terminal and ground -should be open circuit .
If not replace element
Repeat for lower element.

test across lower element thermostat should be no resistance when stat turned up so it clicks on.
(To test that lower stat turns off, allow tank to heat up completely before conducting this test) Turn sta temp down so it clicks off then test across stat terminals -should be open circuit

The upper thermostat is a 3 way switch
The simplest way to test it is to turn the power back on turn the upper stat all the way up so it clicks on and use voltage tester across the UPPER element terminals, should be ~220V
Now turn the upper stat down so it clicks off- check upper element should be 0 V between upper element terminals -(Caution ! terminals will still be live 110V to ground)
The upper stat has now sent power to lower stat.
Turn lower stat up so it clicks on, check Voltage across lower element -should be ~220V turn lower stat down so clicks off, should be 0 V across lower element terminals.

NOTE If tank is completely cold the upper stat will not switch off and wont send power to lower stat.
If lower tank is cold lower stat may not click off even when turned down.
normal stat setting is 125 to 130
The hotter you you set the stat, the faster your tank corrodes.

Crazy Heat

I think that I would change out the thermostat only due to the symptoms you are describing. Think the control board may be fine however, the thermostat sounds as if the internal componants are going out. Good luck on your repairs

My ducted dometic roof unit wont cycle on when i try to reset t stat it reads ee i think my upper board is bad

The upper board is a possible problem, however before you drive yourself crazy after purchasing a new one and it not working, try removing the CCC from the wall and obtaining a piece of the cable that connects the upper unit to the CCC. You should be able to get this at any local Dometic repair facility or dealer. With this piece, plug the CCC directly into the upper control and try resetting it. If this does not work, then it is either the CCC or the upper control board. You can also try turning all the dip switches to off in the control board and resetting the CCC and then turning them back on to their original position and resetting. This will sometimes work if the two just lost communication.

Hope this helps,

Jeff
