This means at some point the machine was told to copy or print from the manual feed. So you need to put some paper in the manual feed so it will print out and clear the message. You can try turning off the power, sometimes this will clear the message as well.

Why does the document cause the printer to go to manual feed? Other documents do not. I have a 30 page document and the printer set to print from Tray 1, but it always starts at "manual feed insert paper". If I clear the print queue and print another document...n o problem.

My printer keeps showing the message, " paper jam

Hello Tessty,

The Paper Jam message may appear on the display if the Brother machine is not feeding paper correctly, paper scraps stucked or the paper is not loaded properly in the paper tray, the jam clear cover located in the back of the machine, is not installed properly or the PE Actuator is missing or damaged.

WHY DOES THE MESSAGE MANUAL FEED INSERT PAPER KEEP COMING UP ON MY MFC7420

if you are trying to print something from your PC and machine has NO paper in tray she will ask you for manual feed. Look in your printer driver properties to see what PAPER SOURCE is chosen.

I have a MFC 7440N and it keeps giving the message Manual Feed Insert Paper. What do have to do to have paper from the tray? Please help

You need to open the front long small cover and feed the paper from that manual feeder.

after that, you should be good.

How do I use manual feed on the brother mfc 7820N printer/fax/copier?

The manual feed slot located in the front of the machine above the paper tray.
  1. Slide the gray paper guides to fit the size of the paper
  2. Using both hands put the paper (side to be printed, face up) in the manual feed slot until you feel the front edge of the paper touch the paper feed roller. Let go of the paper when you feel the Brother machine feed the paper in a short distance.
  3. You must then go to the application that you want to print to the paper and use that application's paper settings to set the paper size, orientation, font, style, etc
  4. Good luck trying...

Brother mfc-7420 printer - manual feed instead of automatic

ok, thank you

you probably had a document that was not using 8.5 x 11 paper or the print settings were the printer to use the manual tray.

thanks adi

Document jam brother mfc 8460n

you cannot clear this unless there is still a presence of paper inside the machine.

or you can open and close your machine once you are cleared of any paper jammed, be sure not to leave and removed all residual paper in the paper path, the tiny sensor would recognize any sort of this and thus make your machine unoperable.

False Paper Jam Message

Probably a jam sensor is dirty or stuck. Look through the paper path for a stuck plastic sensor arm, or dirt or paper dust on photocell typr sensors.Paper sensors are normally located near where paper feeds, and where it exits the machine. The paper must pass over these sensors as it travels through the machine. If a scrap of paper is left on the sensors, they will report it as a jam. If you can, try manually pushing a sheet of paper through the printer, ONLY in the direction it normally feeds. This may free up a stuck sensor arm, or force out the jammed scrap.
