Sounds like you may have a couple of problems there. First, have you checked incoming voltage to make sure you are getting 100-120 VAC at the AC control board in ceiling? If that's ok, try removing/disconnecting Ac compressor wire at ceiling control box and see if compressor shuts off then. May be a capacitor for compressor going or shot, and possibly relay in control box sticking, or bad wiring to thermostat. Have you had any lightning in the area prior to all this happening?

Compressor will not stop running

There has to be a stat or switch or controller of some kind on the rv. I would check that first. If you have a battery operated stat then try changing the batts, otherwise it could be the contactor on the unit or a bad stat.

Hi, as you know the thermostat controls the unit. Here's what you need to do first. Go to your thermostat on the wall, pull off the cover. You are looking for the main control wires that come in from the back to connect to the screw terminals. Don't be afraid of shock as these are millivolt wiring connections. You say the fan shuts off but the compressor keeps running causing it to ice up. You need to get a screw driver and disconnect the wires from this stat. This should cause the compressor, fan, and all to shut down. If it does, you know that your thermostat is faulty and you will need to make your self a drawing on the wire connections, remove the stat, and you can get a new one at a RV sales and parts house.Find your breaker box where your main wiring comes in and shut off the a/c breaker if you like. Now, if the compressor keeps running after you disconnect it from the thermostat, then somewhere from the stat to the controls on the top have a hot wire that is touching somewhere causing the compressor to be energized all of the time. If you can go up top and find where this thermostat wire comes in, look it over good to see if the red is touching the yellow wire some where. I believe you just have a faulty stat at this point. Do what I asked on the stat, disconnect it completely, and we will go from there. You can get back to me by leaving a comment under my user name. Please let me know and we will take care of this problem.

Good place to start checking for voltage, in and out of relay when triggered. ( careful, if not experienced with electrical, you have capacitors nearby that can zap you real bad if not familiar with them.)

Ac fan wont turn on clicks when go from on to off and high to low motor spins free

Any sound from compressor or just clicking on every setting. Did you double checked (breaker) that you have hydro (120VAC) to it?

Heat stripe and compressor on at the same time

Is this a wall mount thermostat or manual control unit? What is the model of the air conditioner? The only way that this is going to happen is that power is jumping somewhere to the heater coil from the cool side.

If it is a wall mount thermostat, the yellow wire is the cool mode (compressor on) and both the tan and blue wires are the fan mode. The orange wire is for the heat strip. So if you set the thermostat on High/Cool, then you should have power at the yellow and blue wires, not the orange. If the orange wire is energized, then there is a problem.

Remove the orange wire from the thermostat, try it again. If the breaker trips, then remove the wire from the connection at the relay board. Once again, try the unit. If the breaker trips due to the same problem, then it has to be a bad relay board. If the breaker does not trip this time, then you have problem with your wiring between your thermostat and the control unit.

Sounds like you don't have manual controls since it has a relay board.

Hope this helps,

Jeff

Dometic roof air

Sounds like the unit either has been miswired from the beginning or there is a stuck contactor relay.

The more rare scenario is that the control wire between the t-stat and the contactor is shorting to a power source causing the relay to energize. Good Luck!

Compressor starts and doesn't stop

Relay for the compressor may be stuck ( Contacts welded) both the fan and the compressor should operate at the same time. Have the relay(s) checked and possibly replaced.
