Got a playstation 3 ,you turn it on and doesnt load to the main screen only comes up with ps3 and then the wavy lines can u help

Ok, follow these steps to fix your PS3, unfortunately you will lose your save game data!!

Step 1. Turn your PS3 off into standby (red light on)

Step 2. Press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press it, beep again 5 seconds later and then beep once more and turn off. Release the power button.

Step 3. Press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press it, beep 5 seconds later and then there will be 2 quick beeps together. Release the power button when you hear these 2 beeps.

Step 4. The PS3 will start up asking you to connect a controller via USB and press the PS button. Do this and then go onto the next step.

Step 5. A menu will load. Select option 5 "Restore PS3 system". The console will ask you if you are sure, just accept and then the PS3 will restart. All the original software will be loaded and you will need to enter the date and time and other details.

When you have done all this your PS3 should be fully working again.
