I just 'adoped' my parents old TI5040 this weekend (5/31/08) and need to do the same. However, I cannot figure out how to even open the case to GET to the print head.

Clean print head on Canon P23-DH

Take a small cup and boil it in a microwave, then submerge the printing head (gold foil area) of the cartridge in the boiling water, please be careful doing this, The hot water will dissolve and clear the head, if no joy the print head is defective and you need to buy another one.

Sticky calculater keys

First-take the batteries out. You should be able to take the case off from the back. Use a q-tip and alcohol. It will clean and dry immediately. Let dry a day to make sure there is no liquid in it before you put the batteries back in.

After 20 yrs. of use, it seems to need more ink. I have the TI-504511 Model calculator. Can the ink be replaced??? I can't even see where the ink pad/roll is, so I'm thinking I have to just buy another...

If you remove the clear plastic cover from over the printer you will see the print head. With the power off if you gently push the print head it will move left/right. Notice that the top of the print head moves. There should be a small tab on the left side of the top - mine has 'pull up' embossed on it. The print roller is fixed on its underside.
So yes it can be replaced, if you can find a new one

Well it seems that you are graphing stat points and forgot to turn them off. This can be easily fixed by going to 2nd and Stat Plot then make sure all the stat plots are turned off. This should solve your issue.

I love that old, little calculator, the TI-1795+ (not the new one, SV).
Does anyone know where to get any more of these. I'd buy a few,
but they are probably out of production. I've had my three for years
and years and years. They still work fine.
