Question about Bosch Classixx KGV28323 Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

2 Answers

I have a Bosch Frost free, the fridge works perfectly for about an hour after switching it on and off then the red caution light comes on and the evaporator fans do not come on even though I hold the door switches in, but upon startup they do opperate. Any advice. Type KIKSUM40

This fridge is not older than 4 or 5 years, it is using refrigerant 600a. I have blown the charge and recharged the system this morning, it does not short of refrigerant.

Is it not the controll board which controlls the freezeer and fridge compartments temperature. I will have to order the PC board which is around $200, I do not want to order this part unnecessarily.

I have tried to look for trouble shooting on the internet as to what fault the red caution light is indicating, other than that the fridge is to warm inside.

    Many thanks

A bad door switch or a faulty fan delay switch. If a switch goes bad the fans will never turn on. If the fan delay switch becomes "stuck open" the fans will not be energized. Feel the back of your evaporator coil, if it is really cold and frosted over then you probably have a bad fan switch. Replace the door switch first

I gather that the fridge is a couple of years old. Normally when the fridge needs a re-gas the red light will come on and the fridge goes into "standby". Have it regassed, and your troubles should be over. Hope this helps

the fridge might have iced up in the coil due to a defrost problem. one way to check it is to leave the fridge off for a few hours and leave the door open. turn the fridge back on after the few hours and see if the performance is any better. Let me know how it goes

Hi, I have a Bosch Logixx Fridge/Freezer (frost free), works fine apart from large build up of ice on floor of freezer which I constantly have to remove. Any ideas? Many thanks Peter

Hello
check that it defrost elements (heater elements) are working if they working then check if the sensor is working and if the door is sealing when its closed or if the drain is open.
Thanks

Hi i have a bosch large fridge im trying to find out if the temp setting is coldr on number 1 or number 5

I think you should find that 5 would be the colder setting but this is not the case on some frost free models. But you willbe able to tell straight away if you move the thermostat to number 5 it will run for ages before it switches off but not so on number 1!
good luck.................

Bosch KGU31124 Freezer Not Working

I have the same freezer and get the same problems. Ice forms on the refrigeration fins beind the plastic shroud at the rear and completely blocks the airflow. The fan that moves cool air around does not work then and freezer temp goes up. Ice will often push the shroud forwards so that the door does not close properly. Warm moist air get in and just increases the ice problem.

I take the shroud and fan housing off the rear (4 screws and a wire to the fan) and defrost thoroughly using a hair dryer. You can then see when all the ice has gone..

The small drain pipe on the back of the fridge gets clogged, hence no drainage when defrosting, hence ice blocks the airflow between the freezer compartment and the fridge compartment.
Remove the rubber stop from the drain pipe and clean (can be found above the motor)
Defrost the fridge for a few days (it takes at least 48 hours). During this time, if you are not brave enough to remove the internal panels of the freezer and continually clean the water, check for water coming out and clean.
If during the defrost there is no water coming out the drain pipe, use about 2m of flexible and strong wire to clean the pipe.
The aim is to unblock the pipe once the ice has melted.

FREEZER WORKING - FRIDGE NOT WORKING

Ok, got it sussed! [well here's what I did anyway]...

Quite simply, I turned off the fridge-freezer at the mains overnight and in the morning, broke and chucked out the ice chunks that had lined up in the bottom of the freezer section and then turned it back on. I returned that night to see that it was working fine again! Hallelujah, I got my fridge back!!

So it seems that all it needed was a good long defrost, so far so good! I hope this solves your problem.

the evaporator is probably iced up and hence poor air flow. (i am assuming it is a frost-free type). switch off and leave for 24 hours with door open is the easy cure. otherwise, remove the back inside panel of the freezer and melt off the excess ice with a hairdryer used carefully
