Please go to the attached link, there is a picture of the part that causes this problem as well as the belt, there is also a link to the factory repair manual that explains how to install the belt and pulley in a Kenmore stacked laundry center, the file is large so once you click the link at the bottom of the part picture give it a few min's to load the pdf file of the repair manual, it is free.

My Kenmore stacking dryer heats up but does not spin. How do I get to the belt?

you shoud be able to look at the belt from the back access panel and double check to see if it is broken.
if you need to replace the belt the the control panel has to come off then the front panel needs to be removed and you can get a new belt around the drum.i hope this info is helpful it is time consuming.if there is anything else i can do le tme know good luck

Squealing dryer

Most dryers have a vented access panel on the back on the bottom that is held in place by a couple of screws so you can get to the motor & pully assy. Check to see if the grease has dried up on either the iddler pulley or drive pulley. If needed, push down on the iddler to release pressure on the belt and give the pulleys a spin. If they seem fine then it will be the belt or possibly an overloading problem.

Adjust motor/heating elem to put screws back - Kenmore Dryer 417?

pull them away from the wall and see if you have an access panel in the rear of the dryer. If you do remove it and undo the belt so that you can freely sway the drum in either direction. it may re-align the holes for you to replace the screws if not you'll have to open the dryer possibly by prying the top up and undoind the screws that hold the front panel to the cabinet. from there you should be able to move the drum about to get the scres back in but f you do get it opened take the time to clean it out. Make sure you undo door switch wires before removing front panel.

Kenmore dryer

Are you getting heat and can you hear the motor running? If so then you've just had a belt snap. It's a pretty easy fix. You just gain access to the dryer through the back. Remove the several screws that hold the back pannel in place. You will most likely see the broken belt as soon as you remove the panel.

A new belt is very inexpensive! Good luck!
