My vaio vgn-n250e sometimes will not cut on even when battery is charged and AC is plugged in. I actually havent used it in 2yrs thinking it was a battery problem, but yesterday (after 2yrs) i decided to see if it would cut on and it did. So after windows update installed the 91 updates it rebooted went through the startup process then shut down and now it wont come on. I thought it was the battery but apparently it isnt. At least I dont think so?? Help

I had a similar problem with another vaio turned out that the module that the power button is a part of (above the keyboard) had a bad wiring harness that connects it to the computers main board. After replacing the harness (looks like a tiny ribbon cable with 4 or 5 wires) the laptop was great again.

Try this as a starter: Unplug it and remove the battery. After several minutes, put the battery back in and plug it in and try starting it.
If nothing happens, try removing the battery and starting without it.
Also: test the adapter and make sure it is actually providing power--should be about 18 volts.

I have a sony Vaio N250e. It powers up, boots up and get to the windows desktop. It will stay there for about 2 minutes then it just turns off on its own. I did notice that the battery light blinks twice....

Hi
Does this occur when charger is also plugged in?

If it does then sounds like the CPU vent ports are clogged and CPU may be overheating,

Turn laptop upside down and look at CPU vents, if clogged simply use vacuum cleaner to clear.

I spilled a little white wine on my Gateway laptop keyboard. I immediately turned it upside down, then removed the battery and power cord. I let it dry overnight (upside down). The next day I replaced the...

Please remove the Battery from the Battery bay and disconnect the AC Adaptor from the Notebook. Then, clean the metal contact in the Battery Bay and leave the Battery removed for half an hour. Next, connect the AC Adaptor to the Notebook and the power cable to a functional wall outlet and try to turn ON the Notebook. If the power LED on the Notebook doesn't glow then again disconnect the AC Adaptor and try removing and reinserting the RAM module. If the issue persists even after performing all the above steps then service will be required.

However, if the Notebook turns on after performing the above mentioned steps but the Battery is not detected then perform C: Drive Restore using the VAIO Recovery Center.

As per the specification published online, the Computer model VGN-N250E is preinstalled with the VAIO Recovery Center in the hidden partition of the Computer. You may use it to perform C: Drive Restore to restore the Computer to the original factory settings. Please make sure that the new Battery is installed in the Computer while performing the Complete System Restore.

Performing a C: Drive Recovery will erase all the data present in the C: Drive only and will reinstall the pre-installed Operating System, Applications and the original Drivers supplied with the Computer.

Please restart the Computer and keep on tapping the F10 key to access the VAIO Recovery Center. Next press the Enter key then select the "VAIO Recovery Center" option then follow the steps given in the link mentioned below to proceed with the C: Drive Restore.

http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C473668

In the link given above, please click on the sublink "Restore C: Drive" to view further information on performing the C: Drive Restore.

Performing all the steps successfully should resolve the issue.

Take the battery and power supply out and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This will reset your hardware settings. Your backup battery isnt your problem. Does your battery light turn on when charging? Does your keyboard lights light up when it runs for a second (try pressing caps lock)?

DOES NOT POWER ON

did you charge it for 24hrs prior to using it? usually when you purchase a new laptop the battery has 10% life and its recommended that you charge it for 24hrs before using it so that the battery has a chance to break in.
