Laptops have a brightness control using the Fn key (lower left on the keyboard) and a special function key that shows an icon representing a light or the sun--one key is for increasing brightness and the other is for decreasing.
Be advised that if you are operating on battery only, the brightness will be less than if on line power. You can change that with the power options, but it will run the battery down faster.
