How do I get the service manual for the RCA 52W20B? I noticed you have posted small sections of the EW circuit. I am having trouble with pincushion and width. Changed Dl 106, and checked TL120, DL030, DL032 etc.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

Lg 29 tv horizontal. Pincushion problem

Check all the components at the horizontal out, and vertical out section circuit. Check the transistor/s used at the pincushion circuit.
If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. Do a search by type in the brand name of your device at its search box and press "Enter".

Sony KP-48S35 Picture

Since this recovers on its own, there are a few possibilities:

1) There are bad connections on the board that self-correct as the unit heats up a bit.

2) There are capacitors in the convergence and pincushion circuits that are starting to fail.

If you can solder, you can repair this yourself. First look for poor solder connections that appear to be grainy or have rings and resolder them. If that fails to resolve the problem, we next have to look for failing capacitors. I will look up the most probable caps in both circuits and post the circuit designations here.

Keep up posted on your progress.

I assume that the pincushion problem to your TV, ie, the display have curved vertical lines [X] shape. If so, the pincushion circuit should be troubleshooted. Check the transistor of this stage. Try to download the repair manual to this set. It will have all details. Is it a Sony TV? If so, try this link. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/Pull up older posts.

RCA G35831AT

This is a loss of the "pincushion correction" circuit. These sets are known for bad high voltage capacitors in the horizontal circuit that cause a loss of pincushion correction. It could also be loose solder connections in the horizontal circuit. This can be a dangerous circuit to work with. Have a shop check it for you. Thanks for using fixya.

I need to find the pincushion circuit on my RCA F32632SB TV to check a problem with the TV displaying an hour glass picture. Where can I find a picture of this or a manual to guide me to the circuit?

The pincushion it intimately related to the horizontal circuits, the electron beam must travel farther to reach the corners of the crt and it does to the middle and so without pincushion circuits the raster would be bowed in on the sides on crts 27 inches are larger.Pincushion corrections straightens the raster by modulating the horizontal yoke current at a vertical rate.In an RCA tv the pincushion circuits are usually numbered 4800and the pin amp will probably be numbered 4801,its drive transistor should be Q4802,R4802 will be the width control, and R4805 the e/w pin amplitude. its inputs from the vertical should be Q4801 (subtractor) Q4803 (buffer) you should have a parabola waveform at 4801,yoke current can be modulated here without effecting high voltage.when Q4802 conducts voltage should decrease across Q4801 and the voltage drop across the yoke increases. The east west pin amp control 4805 controls how much of the vertical parabola is input to U4801 to compensate for changes in width caused by variations in beam current.By varying the e/w control resistor you can know if the circuit fault is in the input or output,if the picture varies in size the fault is in the input to U4801,if it does not vary check the output or U4801......hope that helps

Have you ever had this problem?

Sorry Ginko, but a convergence problem would have the curves down from the top and up from the bottom. The hourglass shape is a pincushion problem. This can be as simple as a bad capacitor in the pincushion circuit.

Could you please confirm the model number so I can look up the probable part?

Thanks,
Dan

This is most likely a bad capacitor in the pincushion circuit. The problem is that the service manual for this model is not readily available. I believe that it is similar to RCA models. I'll look up a few RCA types and try to supply you with a few suggestions.

look for any burnt capacitors in the horizontal sweep circuit. They usually cause the pincushion.

Generally, pincushion may be driven by a chip or IC,but pin out is normally a durable xistor. Servicer adjustments are minor for pin correction.Go to pin out circuit & measure voltages.Get back to me on your findings.
