Question about Panasonic Televison & Video

My dvd recorder (dmr-es20deb) keeps self checking evertime I turn it on which hinders setting recording as it needs manual intervention

Our problems are 1.Recorder self checks during play back of DVD. 2. We are only able to play the last programme recorded via Direct Navigator, others are not accessible, machine self checks when we try. 3. After timed recording machine does not switch off automatically. 4. Machine stops recording randomly, if you set it on manual record.

Has anyone else come across these problems? are they related?

Ihave dmr-e55 it records advd for 5 minutes and it goes to self check

1) Press and keep [POWER] button on the unit for more than 10 seconds
to turn off the power of the unit.

2) Unplug power cord and wait for approx. 1 minute.

3) Plug power cord in.

4) The display shows [RECOVER] or [SELF CHECK] and it becomes under
recovery. Wait till the message on display disappears.

*When the unit does not recover after taking above procedures (1 to
4), it is needed to be checked and repaired.

DVD stuck on Panasonic DMR ES10 in eternal cycle of "self check"/"please wait"

My DMR ES10 was eternally in a "self check"/"please wait" cycle. Couldn't even turn it off normally. By pressing the "Power off" for 10 seconds it will turn off forcefully. Now, after it says "BYE" press the "CH UP" (on the recorder, NOT on the remote))+"STOP" (with the recorder turned off) for another 10 seconds. This will force the opening and we now can take the DVD off. Turn the DVD recorder ON and, if the problem is on the laser, because of dirt, etc it will work and we can now run a DVD cleaner. In this case, the machine was stuck just because the first thing it does is check the DVD inside, and because it can't and just keep trying, it will never do anything else, until we take the DVD off with it turned off.

Recorder keeps 'self checking' then taking dvd back to begining, although only on recordable dvd's, not rented. Are recorders worth repairing or are you better just buying another?

I have had a Panasonic DMR-E85 with this exact same problem you are describing. As I bought a Freeview Dual-tuner PVR I just bought a second-hand DMR-E55 as I liked the Panasonic interface. Two months down the line it is now exhibiting the exact same problems, except now as well as the continual self-check rebooting, it's also refusing to eject the disk. Booo. Time for me to buy a new DVD recorder again, and this time certainly not Panasonic... :(

Panasonic dvd/vcr DMR-EZ47V model.Code OOOOOO keeps going across.

You must manually hold in the on/off button on the machine itself (NOT on the remote) for approximately 30 seconds. This will shut the unit off. Then you can restart it.

Panasonic DVD DMR-ES20DEB. set up on remote control pressed DVD2 instead of DVD1. How to return to DVD1

To reset the factory details as if it was just removed from the box - Leave the recorder on, flip down the front panel on the recorder and then press and hold the channel up and down buttons at the same time until it says bye on the display. Wait a few seconds then turn it back on. It should automatically select all the programmes available

If self check keeps going after 1 minute unplug machine and open top cover remove 4 screws that hold the recorder top cover remove disk reinsert screws and plug in see what happens.

Try holding down the stop button (black square logo) and the channel change button (upward pointing logo) at the same time for 5+ seconds. If this dos'nt work also press open/close button at the same time as above

Panasonic DVD problems

sorry to say but both of these sound like loader problems.ie the optics are faulty, you have to replace the full assy called a loader assy when this happens.Panasonic are the only company who offer part exchange tru authorised dealers.ie send back the faulty one and they will give reduced price on new one,.As to other makes see a lot of sonys with optic problems as well so isint just a panasonic problem. You could also try using ordinary dvdrs instead of ram discs as the optic has to work harder when recording and playing ram disc due to information contained.Hope I helped!
