How too reduce the static noise in a 93T galaxy radio

doesn't make a difference what radio,if you have static it will be in them all . Buy yourself a noise clipper ,about 27 $$$ and that should help you with the static.

I get static so bad that I can't squelch it down enough to get rid of the noise. Traveling out on the highway it usually works ok. But when I enter a town the static gets badusually around power lines. How...

You could install a filter in the line between the antenna and the transciever. I reccommend a high-pass or band-pass filter set for the 27 MHz band to remove any interference at different frequencies. Also, some older TVs can cause interference to CB radios if they are close. If this doesn't work, the radio may be poorly sheilded or your area may have implemented the broadband power line initiative (BPL). This produces a strong buzz of noise that obliterates all weak to moderate radio signals between 2 and 80 MHz (CB being at 27 MHz).

What are some reasons i get a lot of static

You may need a line filter for the 12 VDC into the unit. otherwise I would suggest looking for a broken ground.

It powers up but has no static on the sqec. or anything

It's funny you bring this up I just repaired my 25 that I've had since 93 last night over the same thing.Mine turned out to be the speaker inside the radio the coil went bad. Also I just noticed you say you have a mic problem if you don't have a mic plugged in you won't get any sound unless you ground out I think it's pin 3.Anyway I'm sure that it's nothing serious those are very tough radios I've done alot of experimenting with mine and it's still one of the loudest radios out there,I use mine mostly for hash and trash I have alot of other radios but thats just my little kick *** workhorse.Feel free to email me with anymore questins on that radio at dand1009@hotmail.com.Good Luck

GALAXY 88 HIGHT STATIC IN THE RECEIVE ..

Hi,

If the antenna for the other properly operating radio is used with the radio with the noise and you are getting the static then we can assume it is the radio. If you hear signals with the static, that is, it does receive communications at the same time, there may be a problem with the noise reduction circuitry, or a defective component(s) in the receiver. Without knowing your experience I would suggest taking to a radio shop.
