I don't own a mac and the iTunes as the problem is not the issue. It was working fine having not been connected to iTunes for at least 2 days.

  • vhunley Aug 25, 2010

This worked fine. The exactly 10 seconds appears to be the key. Thanks

Here's the correct way:

  1. Plug/connect your device to a computer (Mac or PC)
  2. Turn it OFF
  3. Press and hold the POWER and HOME buttons together for EXACTLY 10seconds
  4. Release the POWER button but keep holding the HOME button until the computer beeps indicating that a USB device is recognized
If you don't get it at first, try holding the buttons for lesser time or see the other procedures on my tip (link below):

I have this same problem with my 80gb Classic, it is itunes. We are waiting for apple to do something about it, but i very much doubt they will.

Their is a solution I use, this problem happens to me once a month, but if i can listen to music when running or walking then it'll do. If your on a mac, Restore your ipod if you can get to do that... insert one of the software discs that came with your mac to install OSX, and install Ipod Support (or iTunes Support, I am currently away from these disc's so sorry for being vague). make sure iTunes is shut when it quickly installs it from the disc. This wont solve the problem as you are only limited to 6 - 7 gb on the ipod before it will crash and wipe again, just make a playlist with 6 t0 7 gb of music on it and sync that, nothing elese.

Will have to do until there is a solution or something new I guess, the fact someone has this problem on a iPod Touch worries me.

Hope helps.

How do I unfreeze my Apple ipad air ?

It's actually very easy, once you know how to do it. Click and hold down the Sleep/Wake button (located on the upper-right corner of your iPad). While you're holding down the Sleep/Wake button, hold down the Home button as well (located on the front of your iPad at the bottom).
Hold down both buttons until your iPad powers off. It will reboot and start again with a small silver Apple image on the screen. It takes about 30 seconds for the iPad completely start up.

Itouch displays "disable connect to iTunes" how can I restore it?

Restart iPod touch

To restart iPod touch, first turn iPod touch off by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider and iPod touch will turn off after a few moments.

Next, turn iPod touch on by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

Is iPod touch not responding? To reset iPod touch, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

If your device does not turn on or displays a red battery icon, try recharging next.

I don't know how to get rid of the speaker symbol in the center of the Itouch screen.

Turn the iPod Touch off and then back on again. Here's how: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If this doesn't help, try to reset the iPod touch while it is connected to power. To reset, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until either the Apple logo or battery symbol appears. If the battery symbol appears, continue to charge the device until it is fully charged.

Have you tried rebooting it? By holding the sleep/wake button and sliding the turn off slider. If that doesn't work, hold sleep/wake and the home button at the same time. Or you could try a restore.

Hope that helps!

I just bought an ITouch, but cannot get it to work. It is just a black screen and will not show up in my ITunes. Any suggestions?

try resetting the itouch - press and hold the home botton and the sleep/wake button at the same time for about 10 seconds. If it does not come back to life and the battery is charged, you will need to take it in for service

My Itouch will not turn on even though it turned on after I fully charged it. I turned it off and a couple hours later it will not turn on anymore.

Try reseting your iTouch.

Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

(Sleep/Wake is the rectangular button on the top edge;
Home is the dimple on the bottom of the face)
