Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 Digital Camera

1 Answer

The entire zoom lens will not come out when I turn the camera on. It moves a little, makes a sound, and then my camera says turn off camera off and back on. I tried that several times and it is still not working. The battery is charged. I did go to the beach and wondering if sand got into the camera. I also cannot review my pictures as the message comes up about turning it off. What is the best solution?

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel after dropping it. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful.

Regards
Andrea

The zoom is broken how do i fix it?

This problem happens because of long time no using/ Dust or Lensguide pin damaged after drop down. If the lens guide pin damage then there isno chance for repairing . Only solution is replacing the lens. For the solution you need to follow the steps.1. Turn off the camera and remove the memory card and clean theexternal body of the camera and make sure in place of the lens there is no dustor damaged sign.2. Now turn on the camera without memory card & make sure thebattery are fully charged.3. If the lens not moving then give a little shake or thrust by hand( carefully very slow) and then wait for a moment. If no changes then turn onthe camera and give a little twist an anti clock side and leave for few second. It is risky ( Do it slowly at your own risk)4. If nothing change then reset the camera setting from the menuoption. After following all steps, if the camera does not start working thenyou need to visit service center for replacing the Lens or Repairing. Butbefore repairing ask service center the approx cost. if they told you toreplacing the lens then do not do that. Because a new lens & service chargecost you near about a new camera price. So best is buy a new camera. If youhave any more questions ask me I fell happy to answer your question. Thank you.

FE-280 Lens Blurry Photos and no zoom turns off

You have a bad lens. Unless the camera is in warranty the cost of repairing the lens is higher than the value of your camera. The strange noise you hear is the lens motor trying to move the lens. One solution is to blow compressed air around the lens. Sometimes dust and dirt may jam the lens.

Detaching the lens

Perhaps a Vacuum will help if it is sand in the mechanism then has to be sucked out - not blasted further in. But I fear it may now be terminal. Preparing these item is not an economic proposition

The camera zoom got jammed

This can be caused by several different situations. Most commonly the camera has experienced some kind of impact which knocks an element out of alignment, preventing the lens from rotating normally. Symptoms of this include: *you may hear no mechanical sound at all when the camera is turned on *you may see visibly mis-aligned components of the lens *you may hear a loud "snap snap" sound as the camera tries to move the lens when the camera is powered on The second most common cause is a particle of sand getting stuck in the focus motor drive gears. This prevents the focus element from moving normally and causes the camera to shut off to prevent damage to the lens assembly. Symptoms of this include: *A loud "buzzing" sound when the camera is turned on, followed by the beeping and shutdown. Finally the third most common cause of this problem is a broken tooth on the zoom motor drive gears. Symptoms of this include: *the sound of the running motor with a regular "click click click" sound for several seconds. This will not be a "snap snap" sound, that is a different problem. *the lens will move in and out easily by hand as if free from any resistance. All of these problems require disassembly to repair. The charge is around $125 at my shop. Broken drive gears are generally This can be caused by several different situations. Zoom lens problem

Most often these problems occur because of shocks received by the camera. The zoom mechanism in the lens assembly gets knocked out of place. Sometimes this happens just like that, without any clear reason. The lens assembly is a delicate mechanism if one small part gets out of the place it will damage or jam the whole mechanism. A service center can check for that. There is no way for the end user to proper realign the lens mechanism because it is sooo small. It requires specialised tools and hardware. Also, when you take the camera to a service, ask them an estimate of the repair, you will know if it is worth it. Repairs vary form a simple lens adjustment to the need of having the whole lens assembly replaced
