Question about GoVideo Go Video DVD/VCR Combo

Disk Initialize Can't seem to get a new disk initialized. Have gone to Disk option Tried to select Disk Initialize, but it grayed out and will not let me select form that portion of the menu. I can select from the bottom of the menu to select PBC, Auto Play and YourDVD Is there something I have turned on, or need to select before it will let me do this?

I have the same problem. Have not been able to solve the problem by using the owners manual.

  • Anonymous Dec 02, 2008

I am unable to load DVDs and CDs. The TV screen show "Loading" for a long time, then say "Bad Disc" regardless of what is in there. It won't even load a cleaning disc. I have read the manual and checked all connections but nothing solves the problem. I tried calling your 800 number but it has been disconnected. Help, please!

Had similar problem. My unit is 5 years old an found it cannot recognize certain higher speed DVD-R. The DVD that failed was Memorex and indicated "up to 16X". I tried a different brand "Sony" that indicated 1X - 16X" and the latter worked. I believe the older units cannot read the high speed disks.

If it's a DVD recorder, make sure you are using compatible DVD-R media. Check in the user's manual if it supports DVD+R or DVD-R.

Plug your usb drive into your computer. Then right click on my computer and select manage. Select disk management in the left pane. scroll down to look for your external drive in the bottom pane. You might need to initialize the disk by right clicking the gray area to the left of your disk on the bottom pane. If its already initialized you should be able to right click the disk just to the right of where you just clicked and select format, making sure to assign a drive letter and do a quick format of ntfs through the wizard that pops up. If the drive is labeled GPT protected you'll have to convert the disk to MBR by using the diskpart command. Go to start then run and type cmd and hit enter to bring up the command prompt.
  1. Type diskpart and hit enter
  2. Type list disk and hit enter and find your disk in the output
  3. Type select followed by your disk's number, for example "select disk 1"
  4. Type clean and hit enter
  5. Close the command prompt and now you should be able to initialize and format your disk.

DVD wont initialize, it will not see a disk

Look at your local mart for a laser lens cleaner disk. It has little brushes that will sweep dust off the laser lens, possibly helping it to better read the disks. Failing that, the unit is probably trash. You might be able to find a replacement drive mechanism for it, but it'd probably be more expensive than a new one.

Each time I attempt to initialize a zip disk in my Roland BR8...

Probably the drive has gone bad as a first thought... this happens. Possibly the heads got dirty...

Make sure nobody has smoked tobacco around the unit as that is a killer for Zip drives.

Sometimes they have a second level of initializing/formatting. If the BR* has that, try it.

Simpletech simpledrive

per the email I received from Simpletech:

SOLUTION: You might need to initialize the drive.

Right click on “My Computer” or “Computer” on Vista.
Select “Manage”
On the next screen select “Disk Management”
In the lower middle section you should be able to find your drive.
It will show up as Disk 1 or Disk 2….depending on how many drives you have in your computer.
If you click on the area that says Disk # you should get and option to “initialize drive”.
Also to the right it should show the allocation information for the drive. If it says “unallocated” then the drive needs to be partitioned.
Right click on the white box next to the drive listing.
Select the option “New Partition”
This will bring up the partition wizard and you will need to step through this process.
Select a primary partition.
On the next screen accept the maximum size it will provide.
On the next screen you assign a drive letter.
On the next screen you will do the format and accept the default settings.
The formatting will start and will be busy until it is complete.
You can monitor this from the disk management window.

Disk boot failure

Not sure if your windows operation system is working. If so here are the instructions. Otherwise you can boot from cd (XP) and format the drive.
To access the disk management tool right click on My Computer and select Manage from the menu. There will appear a window with 3 categories in the left: System Tools, Storage and Services and applications. By selecting Storage, the menu will expand and from the dropped down list choose Disk Management, which is the purpose of this tutorial. In the right panel of the window there are shown the disks with partitions, as well as the CD-ROM / DVD-ROM drives.
Initialize new disks

New disks appear as Not Initialized. Before you can use a disk, you must first initialize it. If you start Disk Management after adding a disk, the Initialize Disk Wizard will appear, so you can initialize the disk.
So, right-click the disk you want to initialize, and then click Initialize Disk; in the Initialize Disk dialog box, select the disk(s) to initialize.

I am getting logical disk on host twice

Are you sure that our logical disk is not mapped twice to your host channel on your MSA 1500? If it isn't have you tried a power cycle to the storage array and a clean shutdown/restart on your host?
