Question about Sony Dream Machine FMAM radio with iPodiPhone dock (ICFCL75iP) Clock Radio

I purchased this useless Sony Dream Machine ICFCL75I 5 months ago. First time the freezing problem happened within a month after the purchase. Then machine hangs and thus cause the alarm not to go off. So I was late for work the first time. I contacted Sony support as when I looked at the support site there this is a know issue and will need a upgrade of the firmware. Unfortunately, I have no way to copy the firmware onto a SD card and have to wait for them to send it to me by mail. It took 3 tries, 4 follow up phone calls to get the firmware upgrade from Sony. By that time, it is 3 months later and the firmware upgrade has been from v1.03 to v1.05. Apparently, the freezing issue persist from v1.03 and another fix was done on the firmware in v1.04. Anyway, by now, I have been late for work 4 times as this happen once a month but don't know the exact date that it will happen. I finally receive the firmware upgrade, install it, went away for 2 weeks vacation. My first day back to work after the vacation, the machine freezed again and of course, I am once again late for work. Obviously the firmware upgrade has not fixed the problem properly and I am trying to return this garbage back to Sony but their customer service is totally disappointing. What are they doing, do they want their customer to loose their job so they will not be able to buy their products anymore? I do not know what to do anymore. I just want to throw this garbage out the window. I am using my cell phone as a back up alarm clock now. I cannot trust this useless machine! What can I do?

Have the same issue and this works for me, Unplug the unit and plug it back in at least once a week. I've been doing this for over a year and a half and it hasn't froze up on me. This was an expensive piece of ****, because of this I won't buy Sony again.

I've had no issues (touch wood) since the latest firmware update. If you're still having problems, update it again. Even if think you have the latest. I know because if I check the version it says it's the latest and Sony told me to update it anyway. I did and now no more issues.

I have the same problem. No firmware update has fixed this issue. It's an overpriced piece of **** that you can't even return or get customer support for

After 5 years of daily automatic updates microsoft have turned my screen black and say this copy of windows XP did not pass genuine validation


This happens, there's nothing you can do.
To me it happened too, I purchased a new one, of course, waited a month for $$.

Hi,
Acer are having the same problem with some of their laptops not working properly when it's hot and humid.
I recommend that you send the laptop back and swap it for a different model as there seems to a fault with certain models.
If you have any data stored on the laptop back it all up before you send the unit back to Sony.
I know it's not the answer that you are looking for but you will be stuck with that computer having the same problem if you don't sent it back to Sony within a year of purchase.

This is not something that you can repair yourself. If still under warranty (and it should be if only 5 months old), Sony will repair this for you free of charge. Contact Sony through their website (the following is an example if you're in the US):

Freezes every time


if the clearing of cache didn't work, try to check the format of the time and date if its correct and try to detached the hard drive. use the console without the hard drive. if the console works and didn't experience any freezing on the screen. its the hard drive that has a problem. if its purchased with the console it has a 1 year warranty, but if purchased seperately it has a 90-days period of warranty. so use it =)
