Howdy, depending on which head you have, there are different loading options. Here is a diagram of the types of head you might have on your FSE 60:

http://www.stihlusa.com/trimmers/blades.html

(just copy this into your browser's address window and hit return to go to site)

You might really like the prefilled spools as they are the easiest to use, but the head that just takes 2 pencil lengths jammed in holes is nice for more rugged cutting jobs, and is still pretty easy to refill.
Hope this helps some:)

Put back in if ends are not damaged. Ends should be square with no fraying.

Hi, I have a Stihl FS88 trimmer with an auto cut 'bump' head. What diameter line should I use please.

Dave, I use the orange 2.4 mm .095" line, seems to give the best results. Check the attached links, manual, instruction and guides, Good luck

You should use .95 diameter line or larger but it is not critical.

Spring latch stihl sg17

you need pawls the pawls are two small plastic units that wear
you can simply turn them over and swap them round
this will double the lifespan of the pawls
they are located on the rip cord cassette
or just replace them
the older type is nylon and the newer black one seem to be made of some carbon plastic

How do i replace the nylon cord on stihl fse 60 trimmer pg 19 of the manual says to consult the chapter on how to replace the cord, but no such chapter exists

* NO DISASSEMBLY REQUIRED(DON'T TAKE HEAD APART!)*
First make sure the arrows on the head are aligned and the bump head is securely tightened(clockwise). Take a minimum of 20 feet of line from the package and cut it evenly so you have two pieces of equal length. Next insert one end of each piece into the holes on the trimmer head until they are seated firmly(some minor twisting of the head may be required to get the line in more than an inch or two). Once you have gotten a couple of inches into the trimmer head you should have everything still fully assembled with a long strand of line coming from each of the holes. Now begin turning the gear shaped part of the head in the direction of the arrow indicators and the line should begin winding itself inside the 'keeper'. Once the head doesn't turn freely or starts to slip it's full and you can cut off the remaining line, if any, and get to cutting. For more visit www.CollegiateSunglasses.com for safety glasses and other items.

You need a piston stop, watch part of this to explain use:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdqkIuVNUQc
Make one with starter cord or rope:
I suggest a length of starter cord or nylon rope be used instead of the piston stop (retain 6" ± so you can remove it). Make sure the piston is near the top of the cylinder before feeding the cord or it can fall through the exhaust port and damage the piston as it rises. HTH
