Check the at the sides of the memory card and you should see a type of lock that you can slide to unlock the card.

I transferred a file onto a SanDisk and it shows up on the disk on that computer but when I insert the disk into the computer I want to copy the file to it says This folder is empty. I don't get i

What operating system is on the computer you copied the file from, the computer it's going to? Did you encrypt the flash drive? Example: if you have the drive formatted for HF+ on a Apple you won't be able to see it on a Windows box without a little help. If this is the case, plug the drive in the Windows computer format it as NTFS. Plug it back into the Apple, Apple can see NTFS, copy the file to flash drive, plug into win comp and it will see it.

Hello cmb9988
Technically , the best way is to get the two computers connected in a network . I' lm afraid it would take too long to explain here but I see you are able to follow the instructions how to store data . Well , there is a simple and easy way to transfer the data to the second computer . Once the data have been saved on the drive ( whatever it is , a flash stick , a cd , a dvd ... ) , unplug the device and connect it to the second computer . It will recognize the device and will read what 's on it . All you will have to do for the transfer , is to right click on the files , select " copy to folder " and choose a place on the hard drive .
If you are on Windows 7 and can't find " copy to folder " , click on " organize " in the taskbar left above and select " layout > menu bar " . Now , click once on the data you need to copy , go to " edit " in the new menu bar and find " copy to folder " .
I hope this is understandable to you .
Best regards ,
fanaudi .

I am using a dell laptop and want to know how to transfer files from my laptop to my computer but the cd doesnt really show you how.

Data can be transferred from one computer to another using a Pen-Drive or External Hard Disk (depending upon the size of data). All you have to do is copy and paste the selected/ desired data and No additional software is needed.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

GoodLuck!
Dont forget to appreciate the solution if I could have been of any help!

I cant transfer my ringtones from my san disk to my phone

Hi chad0872,

First and foremost, you can't do anything if you don't have all of the components needed to do the job. You will definitely need a computer. More importantly, you will also need a Micro SanDisk and TransFlash to SanDisk adapter. The Micro SanDisk is a very small device, approximately the size of a chip. The disk is placed in your phone to store your phone's items for transfer. The TransFlash to SanDisk adapter is used to access the SanDisk files on your computer. Your SanDisk should be at least 256MB for sufficient storage space.
Once you've established and obtained everything you need, you can now begin the initial transfer process. Insert your Micro SanDisk into the phone where your ringtones are stored. Access the Media Folder or Content Management folder in the phone. Highlight each ringtone file you want to transfer. Open the Options' section available for the ringtones and opt to move your ringtones from the phone's storage to the memory card. Once the transfer process is complete, remove the memory card from the phone
Now that you have moved your ringtones to the Micro SanDisk, place the Micro SanDisk into the TransFlash SanDisk. Insert the TransFlash SanDisk into your computer. This expandable memory slot can usually be found in the from of most laptops and next to the USB slots on the front panel of desktop model computers. Once the insertion is detected, your computer's AutoPlay dialog window will appear or an import options will be given. When the ringtones' window opens, drag and drop the ringtone files from your Micro SanDisk to your computer's desktop screen. Then transfer it to your phone,,,,

good luck with your fix,,,
have a nice day,,

Regards
Arul

My Sansa C250 has worked great for about two years, up until now. I have over two hundred songs on it, it's a two gig. The thing is, no computer will recognize the files on it. It will recognize voice...

Sandisk about this problem songs not being recognized on the computer but still on the player:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/447
Use this links as main help thread.

The standard connection type of C200 series is MTP = Media Transfer Protocol. In this mode you can see the connected device as a portable player.

Songs that are put on the player in UMS = Universal Mass Storage mode (also called MSC = Mass Storage Class), seeing the device as a removable disk can only be seen in the players' UMS mode and vice versa.

Check the setting of the USB mode on the display of the C250:

Main Menu
> Settings / USB / Autodetect or MSC mode

Autodetect = MTP mode: computer sees the player Sansa C250.
MSC mode: computer sees a removable disk.

Now 2 things could have happened:

1. Music is put on the player in MSC mode and now the player is
connected in MTP mode or vice versa.

2. There are bad sectors or corrupted files are transferred on the players' removable disk.
  • In case of bad sectors a recovery is possible: in MSC mode perform check disk as told in the link above.

  • In case of corrupted files a format of the device is needed. First a backup of all data has to be made. Next perform format. This can be done in 2 ways:
Using disk management:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/107
Using Windows Media Player:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/444

Option 2. having problems with the disk or data on the players' disk can also be solved by updating the firmware.
For firmware update see link:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/315
Remember: before updating backup the data from player to the computer.

When more help is needed just post a comment.

Hi,
is the device recognised by the system ?
This will be seen in My Computer, As F:/ G:/ H:/ I:/ Or Similar.
If this is present on your computer, try Formatting The Card/Drive.
You may get options of Format Type:- FAT/FAT 32/N.T.F.S.
Try FAT Or FAT 32.
Finally try selecting the items for transfer, highlight them select/all right click on the mouse,And select Send to F:/ G:/ H:/ et,c. Or try the traditional drag and drop, from desktop to memory card, once located.
also ensure that the card does not have a write protect tab.
If this is in the Lock position, no data can be written to It.

How does SanDisk 2GB allow save to?

Some USB sticks have a little switch on the side of it to "lock" the data, this makes all data read only make sure yours doesn't have one or that it is in the unlocked position.

If you want to reformat the stick, plug it into the computer, go to my computer, then right click on the drive letter and go to "Format". Pick "FAT32" as the type of file system and format.

Sandisk 2gb cruzer says read only, no data transfer ability

Is there a little switch somewhere on the thumbdrive. If so that would be the read-only switch. Try it in the other position.
