Pool water will react funny at times, and differently if water chemistry is out of balance.

  • T. A. Needs to be balanced and stabilized at 120 ppm
  • pH needs to be stable at 7.4 ppm
  • Calcium hardness at least 200 ppm and NO Higher than 450 ppm
  • Cyaniric acid / Stabilizer not over 70 ppm, and at least 30
When adding shock (calcium hypo-chlorite) water will cloud up in most cases. But if water is balanced, cloudy will dissipate fairly quickly.
I. Your case allow more time for settling and circulation thru the filter. Do Not disturb water, let it do its thing.

Let your filter run for a couple days, you will get the undisolved solids out of the water.

Cloudy water is junk floating in the water. "Super Blue" is a product I use to make the junk stick together to be collected by the filter.

My water looks a little cloudy. how do i clear it up. and are you supposed to shock your pool once in a while.

My wife takes care of our pool chemicals. When it gets cloudy, just hit it with a normal dose of chlorine. A normal dose is what you would put in in a given day. Run the filter for 24 continuous hours if necessary.

Water comeing out cloudy and makeing suds in pool

There could be a few things causing these problems. How old is the sand in the filter? Filter sand looses its filtering ability after 3-5 years and needs to be replaced. If the sand needs to be replaced, make sure you get actual pool filter sand. A lot of big box and home improvement stores sell play sand as filter sand. That will cause your pool to stay cloudy and never clear up. If the sand is less that 3-5 years old, you may need to clean it with a liquid filter cleaner that is poured through the skimmer. This works quite well!

Another issue causing the cloudiness and bubbles could be the type of chemicals you are using. I know that shock from big box and home improvement stores cause the water to be cloudy. Algaecides from these stores also cause foaming.

Pressure increase over the red line on pressure gauge while we were away for a weekend. Now pool is cloudy white. I am assuming this is DE. Back washed and cleaned filter twice. However, after running...

When the pressure goes up, try this. Pour some muriatic acid in the skimmer. (about 1/2 bottle) Let pump run for a little bit,(long enough for acid to get into filter)then shut off pump for 5 minutes or so. If pressure goes down to where it should be when it's turned back on, it needs to be disassembled and cleaned and then acid washed.

Water not clear

cloudy water is mainly due to poor pool maintainence.
Your purchase of the salt water system only helped you with not needing to pour chlorine in or float tablets.
You will still need to use chemecals.
I use a good stabilizer to hold the chlorine level longer
I use a non foaming algecide once a week
I also use a water clarifying product once a week

Now on to the clouds :-)

cloudy water is because of not enough sanitizer mixwd with a crappy pump from intex

I do not know the size of your pool so I will just use mine to show you #'s

I have a 7000gl pool with a 2500gl ph pump
A pool needs to be turned over at LEAST 3 times a day so for me it takes at least 8 hours of filtering alone this does not include making chlorine.
Bottom line is you should run your system 24/7 between generating and straight filtering

The only cure for less filtering is to get a sand filter with at least a 1 horse power pump to pump 4000gl and uphaving a sand filter helps trap more small particles than the cartridge filter.

I noticed the difference the first night I had my sand filter. It ran for 6 hours before me turning my pool light on and to my surprise I did not see as many particles passing my light as with the cartridge filter and the second night nothing Crystal clear.

Bottom line is intex pumps and so on are not big enough for the pool it comes with.

The salt system alone with a sand filter is great

CLOUDY SALT WATER POOL

salt does not solve your problem.
People do no realize that all the salt does for you is that it eliminates having to pour regular chlorine in.
Everything else stays the same as a normal pool with just plain ole h2o

The dilema is that intex filters are to small for the job that needs done especially in your case now that you have the dreaded green monster

your solution is to first get it cleared up
shock your pool with 2 gallons of liquid chlorine and then filter filter filter
You will need to brush the dead algea and vaccum once or twice a day for a couple of days and you must clean that cartridge 3-4 times a day with the garden hose
you will be surprised how much green it will trap

once pool starts to clear and the chlorine level starts to come back down from Mars you can start using your generator again.
you will need to find the amount of time thatorks for you but 3-4 hours will not cut it in the hot weeks

Chlorine consumption is due to #of bathers, heat ,sun, rain so any given day will dictate a different amount of generation needed keep it high so you do not get algea again about 3.0

you also got algea because you were not stiring up the pool enough you again need to filter filter filter every day
try to find some of my other postings with more specifics

Algacide?

I think he meant not to MIX them. Don't put them in together.

If your water is still green, it definitely needs algaecide. Be sure you get the bottle that says it will KILL algae, not the preventative. (only difference is the concentration of the product.....preventative is diluted more).

After adding the algaecide you will have cloudy water looking like very very tiny white things floating in your water. Buy a bottle of clarifier to help solve this issue. It will allow the 'dead algae' white stuff to clump together and be vacuumed up. Water will be clean and clear in no time!

Hope this helps. Good luck!
