Bottom of freezer compartmant door has ice build-up. unable to remove wire storage bin. Frozen to the bottom of the unit.

Whirlpool refridgerator is leaking water on the freezer side (side by side refridgerator) onto the floor. The ice machine was overflowing with ice and has frozen ice in the ice maker that won't budge. We...

WAS IT LEAKING FROM INSIDE THE FREEZER OR FROM BOTTOM OF FRIDGE? ONCE IN A WHILE YOU NEED TO TAKE OUT THE ICE BIN AND DUMP ICE OUT AND CLEAN IT. HOW CAN THE ICE MACHINE OVERFLOW WITH ICE WHEN THE ICE IN THE TRAY WON'T BUDGE? NEED CLARIFICATION. SOUNDS LIKE YOU EITHER HAVE A BAD ICE MAKER MODULE OR THE SOLENOID FOR THE ICE ON THE WATER VALVE IS BAD.

I have an FRS26ZRS Refridgerator and there has

Hi.. well you did the right thing, if it was a drainage issue.. however another common problem for all ice making systems, is that the solenoid sticks open a tad too long, and water overfills the ice tray.. little by little it builds up.. did you do a FULL defrost? which would have allowed the water feed pipes and solenoid to thaw too? if you did, and the problem persists, an immediate check would be to turn off the ice maker using the 'fill level' wire over the ice storage.. lift it up until it stays up.. then check the freezer again a couple of days later.. if the problem has gone away, then just get the solenoid changed, OR, you can do a temp fix by restricting the inflow of water so that the water dispenser flows visible slower.. the solenoid works on a timed 7 seconds or so... half a second too much, especially during a heavy ice making session after a party, would cause a lot of water to be in the bottom of the freezer.. Good thing is that even replacing the solenoid is simple for someone with a little confidence, and common sense to turn off the power and water...

Build up of ice in bottom of freezer compartment

During the defrost cycle heaters in the wall of the freezer are turned on to melt the frost build up. This melted frost "water" is supposed to run out a drain in the bottom of the freezer and collect in a pan under the refrigerator/freezer where it will eventually evaporate. If this drain is blocked it will cause a lot of water to collect in the bottom of the freezer and that water will eventually turn back into ice. I recommend defrosting the freezer manually, removing all the ice/water buildup in the bottom, and trying to unplug the drain line to the pan underneath. Also check the seal on the freezer door. If it's not sealing well it could be letting a lot of moisture enter the freezer which would lead to more frost buildup and more water during the defrost cycle.

Ice maker sprays water into the ice storage bin

you need to remove the i/m from the freezer and make sure the "fill cup" doesnt have an ice blockage. thats where the water has to funnel into the mold. it can get a drip into the cup and then freeze in the cup. clear it out once and try it again, but if it happens once or twice again , then you might have to replace the water inlet valve.
