I have Kohler Finial(R) Kitchen Sink Faucet, 12" Swing Spout, Cross Handles. Center water spout is loose and leaks at pivot point. Can't figure out how to disassemble.. looking for info or manual BTW.. I know this not an appliance but didn't see a plumbing option

thanks for quick reply. I did see the diagram on Kohler previously. Just can't find proper way to disassemble the swing spout to get at the washers.

  • mhsurabian Aug 25, 2010

Thanks for your help but none of those apply to this spout/faucet. I'm starting to suspect the whole spout assembly needs to be disconnected and released from under the sink first before you can access the guts of the spout. There is no apparent way to do this from above. All the covers are sleek with no screws or tabs to release them

Moen 7700 kitchen faucet leaks at base of spout

The cylinder which surrounds the bottom of the spout is part of the spout. The cylinder is sealed with o-rings at top and bottom. They probably need replaced. Feel free to use lubricant.
:o).

I have a moen 7637 single handle kitchen faucet that leaks around the stem. How do I take the lever off.

1) Use a small sharp-pointed knife and pop out the little plastic Moen logo at the bottom of the front side of the handle (and don't lose it!)
2) Lift the lever up a bit (the water may turn on) until you can see a small screw with an allen wrench socket.
3) Unscrew the allen-head screw; the handle will lift straight up.

Look down into the faucet; there's a philllips head screw. The leaking may simply be caused by this screw being loose.

Our kitchen faucet has continued to lose water pressure over the past two weeks to the point that it's down to a trickle. We have removed the faucet to look for any clogging and there is none. what could...

You took off the faucet, but did you take the aerator off the spout? That's a very common trouble, especially if you have hard water with lots of minerals. The aerator screen gets clogged and your water slows to a trickle or is stopped entirely.

The aerator just screws onto or into the faucet, but you might need a wrench to remove it if it hasn't been off in a while. Tape the jaws of the wrench to keep from damaging the chrome unless you plan to replace the aerator. Once it's off the faucet you can take the aerator apart, noting the order of the pieces, and clean off the screen. Reassemble it and put the aerator back on and you should have your water back.

You might also just want to replace the thing; you can find replacements at hardware stores and home improvement places. Just take the old one along to make sure you're getting the right replacement.

We have a steadily dripping tap. Can you please help? thank you.

You don't say anything about what kind of faucet you have, so this may not apply. But if yours is the kind with handles you turn to control the water, you probably have worn-out compression washers. In this kind of faucet, water is shut off by pressing a rubber washer on the end of a threaded stem against an opening in the faucet body. When you turn the handle, you move the washer away from its seat and the water can flow. Over time the washer gets worn and no longer seals off the water. Also, the valve seat the washer presses against can wear and allow water to sneak past the seal. The result is that annoying drip or a steady trickle.

This site, among many others, shows how to change a washer and fix most drippy faucets. If you search for "repair a leaky faucet" you'll find lots of sites to pick from, including many with videos. If you faucet is not a compression type, a single-lever cartridge for instance, there are links to other repair procedures.

If your faucet is old and the parts very badly corroded and worn, you might want to fix the leak by replacing the entire stem as a unit. You can find replacement stems for most brands of faucet at big-box home improvement stores and at many hardware store. It's a little more expensive, but often much easier to unscrew the old one and pop in the new than to start trying to get the old washer off the stem.

A last tip: Whenever you do any work on a faucet, remove the aerator from the spout and run the water to help clear the line. If you just turn the water back on and run the faucet, debris that was kicked up during the repair can clog the aerator screen. Then you're left wondering why you get only a weak trickle or no water at all after you fixed the trouble.

How do I get to the cartridge to see if it is blocked in some way. I have reduced flow. This is on my kitchen faucet. American Standard Jasmine Kitchen faucet

You have to turn off the water and disassemble the valve from the top side. Check your screens at the discharge point, particles block there, also.

My husband installed a new KWC Domo faucet in our kitchen yesterday. When he was finished, he turned the faucet on and got a trickle of water. We are stumped and the instructions are no help.

Take off the aerator from the spout (it just screws on, and should not be so tight you need a wrench) and then run the water. You'll probably find the aerator screen is clogged with debris and you can wash it off. This often happens when you turn the water supply off to connect the new faucet. After you clean off the aerator and screw it back into place your new faucet should work fine.

I purchased the Danco 80701 "Repair Kit for Delta, Aquasource, and Glacier Bay Faucets with #70 Ball" so that I can repair a leak in my Delta kitchen faucet. The instructions on the package are...

Sounds like the old style center-control delta type faucet, rubber washers describe older type but still good. The rubber seats have holes in middle, supply water to the cylinder which diverts water to the spout, and has a seal over top of ball allowing stem for handle.

Think they are talking about flex-hose type faucet accessory getting clogged, Maybe: lift the flex-hose faucet housing off the center-control faucet body? Water to it runs directly from center-control faucet and if broken seat gets in narrow line could inhibit spray.

Kitchen faucet spout too has an O-ring under where it connects to the faucet body. Unscrew large nut where meets the faucet body unit (slip-joint pliers), once free of threads, spout should pull straight up, easy or slight tug. I use bent paper clip to remove old one trying to save it in one piece so as to get exact size (that's important) to replace, push on one side then other.
