My tv made a loud popping sound last night while watching a show. The tv got darker. I left it on for a few more minutes and there was another popping sound, like a light bulb breaking, and the TV got black. What do you think the problem could be? Is it fixable at home? I hope I dont have to take the TV to a repair place.

Hi, Question shows it is Vizio L32 lcd tv and symptom shows back light inverter board for defective for some reason and loud noise would be popping of any chip on inverter board. Shopjimmy..com has replacement boards of that model on reasonable price and local tv repairman will replace defective board after checking/ testing the tv. Hope these info will help. Thanks.
Your set has a problem with its power supply. If it is under warranty, have it replaced ASAP. If your warranty has expired, you can take the set to any good repair shop - ask for an estimate before having any work done to it.
REPLACE THE LAMP IT IS LOCATED IN THE BACK OF THE TV THERE ARE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE OWNERS MANUAL FOR REPLACEMENT IT IS CONSIDERED CUSTOMER REPLACEABLE ITEM.
