Is your radio power on? Go to Settings>System> Radio power and check the box for 802.11 radio power. The WLAN icon will now be visible from the main screen.

How to turn ON WLAN?

Here are some essential step that you have to follow.
Connecting to a WLAN

To connect to the WLAN, follow these steps:
1. Be sure that the WLAN device is on (the wireless light is white). If the wireless light is amber, press
the wireless action key (f12).
2. Click the network icon in the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar.
3. Select your WLAN from the list.
4. Click Connect.
If the network is a security-enabled WLAN, you are prompted to enter a network security key, which
is a security code. Enter the code, and then click OK to complete the connection.
NOTE: If no WLANs are listed, you are out of range of a wireless router or access point.
NOTE: If you do not see the network you want to connect to, click Open Network and Sharing
Center, and then click Set up a new connection or network. A list of options is displayed. You
can choose to manually search for and connect to a network or to create a new network connection.
After the connection is made, place the mouse pointer over the network icon in the notification area, at
the far right of the taskbar, to verify the name and status of the connection.

try to check Control Panel > Network Connection > Wireless Network Connection. Check if status is disabled. If there are no icons, try to install a WLAN card by calling your service provider.

Failed to connect to the internet thr wi-fi

f Active Standby is activated on your Cell, your WLAN connection status is always visible from standby mode. The bottom line of the screen shows your WLAN status. If there are no wireless networks in the area, you'll see the message 'No WLAN network found'. If you're near a WLAN that you're not connected to, you'll see the message 'WLAN name found'.

To log on to this network, simply highlight the WLAN status line and press the centre selection key. You'll see three options:
  • Start Web browsing
  • Search for WLAN
  • Switch WLAN scan off

If the WLAN has detected then cell will open, unprotected network (and needs no passcode to access) then simply highlight Start Web browsing and press the centre selection key to go to your Bookmarks page and start browsing the web.

Hope this helps

My network connection icon shows that I am not connected to my wireless network when in fact I am. How do I get my network status icon to show accurately?

Good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time of day you are viewing this solution post. Thank you for choosing FixYa to assist you with your problem. Your problem is that your computer cannot detect your wireless router. First we need to troubleshoot where the source of the problem is coming from. I think the problem is that your WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) antennas on your computer have lost its signal strength. To solve this problem, you will need to uninstall the card manually and reinstall it again. First, shutdown your computer and turn it over onto its bottom. If you are not familiar with this process, you will need to unscrew each compartment until you see the one that has your WLAN card configured in it. moz-screenshot.pngThe picture below is an example of how a WLAN card looks on a computer.
. rielle_3.jpg
You should see some wires connected to it; these are the antennas. Unplug these antennas and uninstall the card, then reinstall the card and replug the antennas (they are color coded, so just match the color with the plug). Rescrew the compartment together and turn the computer over. Restart your computer and check the network connection icon. You should be able to see the signal bars accurately. I hope this solution helps you. Please reply back if you are still receiving technical difficulties.

My toshiba laptop does not work on a lan. The icon

When you look at the Manage Network Connections link on the Network and Sharing Center you do not see
Local Area Connection?
Do you see Wireless Network connection?
You need to check the device manager to see if the card has been disabled.

It should show two entries with no red or yellow marks. One for wireless (WLAN) and one for wired (Ethernet)
