I really depends on what operating system you are using. Windows 7? Windows 8? Mac OSX? Are you talking about being able to see photos on your computer? If so, most times simply double clicking on a photo will bring up the gallery itself.
Well, first I would try using the built-in utility as seen here.
If that doesn't work, you will need to modify the registry. Be careful doing this!
1. ClickStartMenu, and then type regedit in the Start Search and press ENTER. 2. Navigate to the followingregistrybranch: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurre ntVersionExplorerFileExts[ext] Replace the [exe] with the actual file extension that you want to restore its file type association to revert back to original Windows Vista default. If you unsure, simply browse through all the sub-key under FileExts. 3. Delete the sub-key named UserChoice. 4. Exit from Registry Editor If this helps, please rate this answer.
Is this only a problem when you try to view your pictures with Windows Live Photo Gallery? If so, then it is best for you to post in the Windows Live Help for Photo Gallery. They have experts there that deal only with Windows Live Products.
Things like to plant themselves in your start-up in windows. It is getting more obscene with software as the years go on. Both XP and Vista have similar fixes for slow start-ups. (In XP) Go to Start-->Run a box will pop up to type in a command, *In Vista, you can type "run" in the search box at the start menu* Type "msconfig" and a system configuration utility will pop up. Click the tab that says "start-up" and un-check the software for your photo gallery and fax software. *and any other non-needed programs for starting up your computer
I finally figured it out. Somehow I had messed with the Autoplay settings uploading pics the last time I guess. Anyways, if you experience this problem, check this out first and see if it fixes it for you before you do anything else:
What if the import dialog box doesn't appear?
If the dialog box prompting you to import your pictures doesn't appear when you connect the camera to your computer, AutoPlay might be turned off. You can import your pictures using Windows Photo Gallery instead. Here's how:
Open Windows Photo Gallery by clicking the Start button , clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Photo Gallery.
On the toolbar, click File, and then click Import from Camera or Scanner.
In the Import Pictures and Videos dialog box, choose your camera from the list of devices, and then click Import. If you prefer, you can turn on AutoPlay or set AutoPlay to automatically import pictures from a digital camera. For more information, see Change AutoPlay Settings.
hey i have the same problem with the hp pavillion 6000. It is one of the most unreliable computers in the world but i guess thats another discussion... I have a 2g memory card that will only be recognized if i restart the computer and put it in then... Once you eject it though it wont recognize it. HP needs to get their **** together and stop ripping people off.
Find a picture using my computer and move the mouse over to it. Right click on the properties. There should be a description of what program it opens with with a button to the right side of it to change the program. Press that button and change it to photoshop enable all default options on the dialog window as well.
