Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook
If you are operating Vista or Windows 7, you do not need to "eject" the disc. It is not necessary to "safely Remove" the flash drive by using the prompt in the taskbar. Just pull the drive from the computer, if the system has a lockup, just reboot it and clear the problem. The DV series laptop unfortunately is prone with problems, but this sounds like a windows lockup rather than a hardware issue.

This happens when a program is still writing data to the USB when you are trying to unload it from your PC. Dont pull the stick out where possible, as this risks losing data. (Though most times it's fine in my opinion)
Generally, most people close off the programs that are no longer using the USB before they unload it but certain programs 'link' together. For example, depsite you closing the MS Word document after saving it to USB, MS Word is also directly 'linked' to MS Outlook. If your outlook is still running, this may affect it. Try closing ALL programs (where possible) and ejecting the volume.
Alternatively, download a program called "unlocker"
This will load a popup into the menu that shows when you right click the drive from 'computer' Just click the 'unlocker' command and the drive should eject normally.
