Presser foot wont raise and lower

My designer 1 hisqvarna has been working fine and then it all of a sudden will not lower or raise the presser foot. I had to remove the whole presser foot attachment and foot to get the last embroidery out of my machine. I've tried cutting the machine off and restarting No luck

Does the presser foot move at all when the machine is first turned on?
Do the needle and feed teeth calibrate when the machine is first turned on?
You probably need to locate your nearest authorized repair center.

How to attach free motion foot

Most free motion feet attach like the other feet.

It is creating "thread nesting" also called birdnesting. Could be several things:
1) make sure before you thread the upper thread, RAISE the presser foot so the thread will seat properly in the tension disks
2) drop your feed dogs before you begin to free motion
3) your free motion quilt foot, when lowered, should not rest on the fabric. (Be sure you are lowering your presser foot when you want to stitch!) You should be able to move the quilt sandwich easily under the presser foot. If the foot applies any pressure to the fabric, you may need to release the presser foot pressure (consult your manual). Or you are using the incorrect presser foot for your machine.
4) If none of the above, you need to tighten the upper tension AND
try this method before beginning to free motion stitch:

Picture of the tension disk on a touch tronic 2000

Remove the cover over the thread path--it is designed to be removed for cleaning and is separate from the front and back cover. To identify the tension disk, raise and lower your presser foot--they will be the only thing that moves. That is why you should ALWAYS thread ANY machine with the presser foot RAISED--it is the only time that the tension disks are spread to accept the thread.

Make sure you lower the presser foot before continuing the operation.

The foot controller was pressed (or the start/stop button

was pressed if the foot controller is not connected)

and the reverse/reinforcement stitch button
was pressed while the presser foot was raised.

My singer HD 110 will sew a bit then suddenly the needle will slow down to a stop & the handwheel seems stuck, yet the motor is still running.

Hello there! Make sure your pattern selector is compatible with the presser foot. Good idea to test with a straight stitch setting: Tension: 4. Width:4-5. Length 5 after you insert a new needle and re-thread machine. Your previous needle may have become bent when machine malfunctioned. Use fabric compatible with needle size. Always raise presser foot when threading! Then always lower presser foot before sewing. Remember to use blue tip scarf needles with synthetic fabric silk thread 50. Purster thread 50, mercerized cotton thread 50-60; #11 or #9 for fine or lightweight fabric with silk thread 50 or fine Pollyester thread; #18 leather needle for leather, #14 - 16 denim . Jimmy Sweep out shuttle carefully with small brush for broken threads and lint.

HOW DO I ATTACH PRESSER FOOT G TO MY MACHINE??

there are 2 type of presser bar foot clamps
one allows you to snap on the foot--raise & then lower the presser foot holder until the cut out is directly above the pin on the foot,,as you lower the presser foot holder the presser foot will automatically engage when put down on the pin area

the second is a shank & foot combined & there is a screw on the presser bar,,unscrew it some & put the shank up around the screw & retighten the screw

Hi. Here's how to attached the zipper foot.

To Attach the Zipper Foot
1. Loosen the large screw at the left of the presser bar and remove presser foot (You do not need to remove the screw).
2. Hook the prongs of the Zipper Foot around the presser bar from the back, and tighten the presser-bar screw.
3. If the raised edge (zipper or cording) is to the right of the needle, adjust the Zipper Foot by loosening the thumb screw at the back of the foot and sliding foot to the left of the needle. If the raised edge is to the left, slide foot to right.
4. With presser foot down, check its position by lowering needle into side notch, making sure it just clears the foot.
5. Tighten thumb screw to lock foot into position.
When raised edge is placed to right -- adjust foot to left of needle.
When raised edge is placed to left -- adjust foot to right of needle.

Thread is bunching up under fabric

Raise the presser foot and pull out about 8" of thread.

Place fabric under the presser foot, lower and sew.

If this works, then you forgot to raise the presser foot before you threaded the machine.

If not, then the machine needs to go into the shop for service as the timing may need to be adjusted. This needs to be done by a professional repair person.

How do I install my darning foot?

First, raise the presser bar, remove the presser foot, the presser foot holder and screw.

Turn the handwheel to bring the needle to its highest position.

Place the darning foot on the presser bar and make sure that the metal bar of the darning foot is above the needle clamp and put the screw back on and tighten.

As the needle bar raises and lowers, the foot will hop up and down slightly.

Make sure that you always lower the presser bar when using this foot. Lower the feed dogs also if your machine has this feature.

Turn power switch to "0"
raise the needle to highest position by turning the wheel toward you(counterclockwise) and raise the presser foot lever
release the foot by raising the lever located at the back of the presser foot assembly
place a different presser foot on the needle plate so that the bar on the presser foot is in line with the slot on the shank
lower the presser foot lever and fix the presser foot onto the shank. If the p foot is in the correct location the bar will snap in you should hear a click or snapping sound let me know if this helped thanks! amy
